Capítulo 2: Chapter 2 - Second Floor

[Hyeon POV - Floor of Tests]

It's been a few months since I arrived on this floor. Upon arrival, a male made an announcement, with a distinctly soothing, yet masculine voice saying the test would start when there were enough participants. Since then there have been a few more arrivals but not enough to commence the test.

I spent all the time training. I face the image of Chu Chulainn and Karna daily. I lost every time, but with each loss, I got better. I gained clarity, understanding, and vision of the power I would one day wield. I did not mind training, no I enjoyed it. The sound of my spear piercing the air, the sweat down my back and brow showed me how hard I worked.

Thanks to my training Gae Bolg has been somewhat recognized as its master thanks to my increased skills. Although I still can't unleash its true form via ignition, I have been able to bring out sun reddish-gold sun flames and coat the spear in it. It's a tiring move but it shows I'm on the right track. One day I'll be able to unleash the shinsu burst.

I was currently eating some roasted Barnacle Goblin meat for breakfast. Barnacle Goblin is a creature that can be found on the Second Floor of the Tower. It is also referred to as "thieves" because they steal the fish the Net Dolphin has gathered at the Wine Glass. The Giant marshworms they breed can retrieve the fish from the worm's stomach. Since the Barnacle Goblins depend on the Net Dolphin for survival, they have a bad relationship with the Striped Ground Pig, the natural predator of the Net Dolphin.

As I was enjoying my meal and musing to myself I heard footsteps approaching. My body tensed but relaxed once I recognized who they belonged to. I felt a sigh escape my lips. This blood headache again.

"What do want you, troublesome woman," I said addressing the approaching footsteps.

The foots continued around me." You know what I want" said the woman as she sat on a log in front of me. I looked up from my meal at the person sitting in front of me. She wore an orange and black dress, which was fairly loose to allow movement in combat. But what surprised him about her when they first met two months ago, was her green skin, slightly lizard-like girl, with medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. She also has a noticeable tail.

"Just because you can't beat doesn't mean I have to teach you. And you saving you a princess of Zarad, or Zavad, or Zarard, or whatever the name is doesn't change my mind. I own you nothing, I have to do nothing and you can't make me do anything. So take your haughty attitude somewhere else and ask someone else who gives a fuck about your title"

Towards the end, I could feel the heat emanating from my body rising. So I refocused on my meal and breath control exercises to calm down.

"Tch whatever, it's not like I need your shitty training. I'll surpass you eventually, It's in my blood."

"I hate entitled mongrels like you the most. Those who think their bloodlines are enough of an excuse to lord over others without the strength to back it up."

"Why you-" she replied through gritted teeth.

"You're stronger than most rabble I've faced on this floor I'll give you that. But it strength you were born. I'm not admonishing you for being born with power. But being satisfied at this level and thinking you're hot shit with the power you have will come to bite you in the ass. You have no true grasp of the strong, nor do I really. ' Can't exactly count figures from my image training'. But they exist. Those who took this very path we are now taking... how will you fair against a veteran of the tower I wonder. As for me, I can't wait. Stronger opponents mean better kinder for the flames that is my soul, the blaze that is my spirit, the inferno that is my resolve."

Towards the end, Anak was somewhat entranced by what he said. She'd never struggled with an opponent before him and doubted they'd be more regulars of the same caliber...but what if they were? What if she was defeated...before she could get her revenge? Her grip tightened as she pondered.

Before she could respond an announcement was heard throughout the area.

"Thanks for waiting so long folks, but wait no longer for we have enough players for the first game of the second floor."

My eyes widened a bit at that... first test hmmm it would seem the difficulty has already increased...good.

"Mic test Mic test." the person said before clearing their throat." Welcome Regulars to the floor of the test also known as Evankhell's Hell Floor. The first test is called...the Deathmatch Test and the rules are quite simple. There are 400 of you on this floor; only half that number is needed for the second test. So half that number by any means necessary...good luck"

The voice ended the message with a chuckle, clearly amused in his tone. I got up and grabbed my spear. I turned to Anak, who had her green needle-like weapon in her right hand gripped tightly.

"Don't die you're my prey" she said with a huff before leaping away to hunt down others.

"Hmmm, a strange woman that one." I leaned my head to the left as the projectile flew by my face. In one swift motion, I rotated left and flung my spear with such force that it kicked up dust and left a red trail as it flew through the air. The scream I heard in the distance was the only confirmation I needed that my aim was true. I held up my right hand and caught Gae Bolg as it returned.

I cracked my neck as I felt several people approaching. "Hmph weak mongrels herding together to take down a greater foe. I'd applaud the effort...if it made a difference."

I trusted my spear forward, piercing one of them. I kicked out my right leg backward and felt my ribcage cave in once the kick connected.

[Omniscience POV]

Without a refined us of Shinsu to fall back on, Hyeon knows he'll have to rely on his superior physique, honed reflexes, and deadly spear techniques. A half dozen Regulars charged from all directions, trying to overwhelm him with brute force.

Hyeon tightened his grip on Gar Bolg and dashed forward with explosive speed, losing the distance before the closest enemy could react. He drives his spear cleanly through the first attacker's chest, pivoting on his heel to dodge a sword strike from another, With a fluid motion, he rips Gae Bolg free and sweeps it in a wide arc, using its length to keep his attackers' at bay. Two more Regulars collapse, their weapons shattered by the force of his strike.

Seeing the first group cut down so easily, more enemies rush forward.

"HE HAS TO TIRE EVENTUALLY."

"CHARGE!"

"KILL the Bastard."

Hyeon keeps his movements controlled, using his spear as both an offensive weapon and a defensive tool to block and parry incoming attacks. His combat style is a mix of precise spear thrusts and powerful hand-to-hand strikes, seamlessly blending the two.

As one opponent swings a large club toward his head, Hyeon ducks under the blow and steps into the man's guard, delivering a brutal elbow strike to his jaw, sending him crashing into the ground. Without pausing, Hyeon spins on his feet, striking another opponent's chest with the butt of Gae Bolg, breaking their ribs.

The mob began to realize that raw numbers weren't enough.

"Fall back, we can't just charge in."

"Incircle the fucker, restrict his movements."

"The bastards to fast, and what rank is that fucking spear. Every weapon that tries to block shatters"

A few of the smarter fighters try to coordinate, attacking from different angles in hopes of overwhelming Hyeon. However, his battlefield awareness he sharpened during his time on this floor and his instincts for hunting the local Shinheuhs combined with his reflexes made it nearly impossible for them to catch him off guard.

Hyeon doesn't let them corner him. He's constantly on the move, positioning himself so that only a few attackers can engage him at once. He uses the terrain to his advantage, leaping over rocks and debris to force his opponents into awkward positions. As a group of spear-wielding Regulars attempt to encircle him, Hyeon sidesteps an incoming thrust, grabs the shaft of the enemy's spear, and pulls them off balance. With a powerful twist, he disarms the opponent and sweeps Gae Bolg across their chest, taking them out.

At one point, Hyeon find himself without Gae Bolg after deflecting a heavy combo blow, the spear momentarily knocked from his grip. But rather than faltering, he steps directly into hand-to-hand combat. The pair of Ragulars who were the strongest of the bunch so far and judging by their appearance twins, rush him, thinking he; 's vulnerable.

Hyeon sidesteps the first attacker and lands a quick series of strikes to the midsection, each punch precise and calculated. The second arrack swings a sword at his back, but Hyeon spins around, catches their wrist, and uses their momentum to throw them to the ground with bone-cracking force, In a matter of seconds, two strong Regulars are downed, and Hyeon retrieves his spear without breaking a sweat.

The tide of the battle shifts as more skilled opponents enter the fray, including a few who can highly manipulate Shinsu. These Regulars stay at a distance using their Shinsu abilities to fire projectiles or enhance their movements. Hyeon remains calm, even without the ability to manipulate Shinsu to that degree himself. Instead, he focuses on reading their movements and outmaneuvering them.

He charges directly at a Shinsu user who's hurling energy blasts. The opponent tries to keep their distance, but Hyeon closes the gap with raw speed and leaps into the air, spinning Gae Bolg above his head. He comes down hard, delivering a crushing blow that shatters their Shinsu barrier and knocks them unconscious with one swift strike.

With only the strongest and most coordinated Regulars remaining, Hyeon shifts into a higher gear. His movements are faster and more precise, and every strike carries lethal intent. He engages multiple opponents at once, deflecting a spear thrust with Gae Bolg, kicking one opponent in the chest, and then spinning to impale another with the tip.

The battlefield is a blut of motion as Hteon darts from one enemy to the next, always staying one step ahead. In one fluid motion, he disarms a sword-wielder and delivers a series of raip strikes with the blunt end of his spear incapacitating them. Another enemy comes at him with a dagger, but Hyeon catches their arm mid-swing, twists it behind their back, and drives Gae Bolg into their shoulder, forcing them into the ground.

A few minutes later, the last group of Reguars finally falls, their coordinated attacks no match for Hyeon's superior combat skills. He stands amidst a field of defeated opponents and corpses. his breathing steady despite the intense battle he just fought. Gae Bolg rests at his side, blood staining its crimson shaft.

Though victorious, Hyeon knows he's only scratched the surface of the Tower's challenges. The others watching from the sidelines are left in awe, not just of his strength, but of his unshakeable focus and mastery of both spear and hand-to-hand combat. This battle has made one thing clear...Hyeon Vitra is a force to be reckoned with, even without any master of Shinsu.

"Alright kiddies, that's enough. For the next part of the exam, you'll need to be in a team of three. You hurry and turn your former enemy onto a friend....oh and you have 2 minutes to do so, anyone not in a team of three automatically fails the exam...good luck~" announced the voice with smug amusement.

Hearing the announcement Hyeon looked toward a particular direction and spoke out loud. "The first two to stop hiding over there and come forward can join me," he said and waited. Two individuals came forward somewhat hesitantly.

One was a burly brown-skinned man with a black buzzcut and markings around his eyes. He wore black cargo pants and hightop boots and left his torso exposed The other was a woman. She was a fair-skinned young lady with light pink hair and blue eyes. Her hair frames her face with two long bangs and is tied into a bun at the back of her head. She wears a light pink jacket over a black dress-like garment.

"Names?" said Hyeon. The two look at each other.

"Amaguta," said the man.

"Hana Yu," said the girl shyly. Hyeon raised as brow as her cheeks were dusted a light pink suddenly.

He twirled his spear and rested on his shoulder.

"Hyeon...Hyeon Vitra" he spun on his heel and began walking away. " Let's go". The two naturally fell into step behind him. There was no argument on who the leader of the sudden trio was.
