"Don't worry, boss." Professor Rudolf Wagner regained his scholarly look and said to Zheng Ren seriously, "When I go on stage, just treat me like I'm an intern. If I don't do it right, you can slap me to death."

Zheng Ren looked at the professor and doubted that was what the professor really wanted.

"Please believe in my sincerity," Professor Rudolf Wagner said very sincerely, "I swear to the lamp, I just... "

"When I was learning Mandarin, I watched a lot of movies. In one of the movies, that was one of the lines that they used, " The professor said. "I feel that the lamp must be some sort of sacred fire, a symbol of sanctity that can not be blasphemed."
