Capítulo 17: Teacher? [Part 2]

About fifteen minutes ago...

In an average-looking kitchen that was the perfect balance between rich and poor but exceptionally clean, a black-haired and green-eyed beauty ran her eyes through the kitchen.

"This wasn't how I left it." She muttered looking at how some of the kitchen equipment was placed.

Liz was the type of person who was able to perfectly remember how she placed something and if there was a slight difference —even an inch, she'd find out.

"Maybe he got too hungry after staying out all day." Liz giggled with her right palm above her mouth. Her eyes were squinted as she imagined Adrian having a hungry look on his face.

Deciding it was high time she began cooking, Liz walked towards where her apron was before putting it on.

She washed some vegetables before cutting them up with a knife and placing them in a pot.

Done with the starting steps in the meal she wanted to cook, Liz walked towards the fireplace before pointing her right index finger at it.

Whoosh...

A small fireball of about five centimeters made a beautiful orange arc as it streaked from Liz's fingertip to the firewood in the fireplace.

Admiring the flame's beauty for some time, Liz stood up from where she squatted before placing the pot above the fire.

The vegetables slowly boiled as Liz's mind was gradually lost in thoughts about Adrian's future.

"I wonder what Alistar would think if Adrian goes to the Palace?" Liz muttered as she stared at the pot absentmindedly.

Since she had spent most of her time in the Palace, she was aware that the lives of the Kings' children —most especially males— hung by a thin thread. If they weren't killed by the mothers of other princes they'd definitely be killed or be haunted by guilt after they were forced to kill each other for the throne.

Although killing each other for the throne may sound a little bit too much it was necessary because only the survivors would be able to live in peace and even if they didn't want to it was a custom in the Ragnar Kingdom.

Thus if Adrian goes to the Palace, other Royal family members would learn of his existence and try to kill him early if he was regarded as a threat.

"I can't let him go," Liz said resolutely after remembering that the current king had no brothers or uncles.

"It'd be best if he learns at home." She said walking towards the sink. She continued. "My decision to invite Rebecca was for the best. If Adrian needs to learn it's best he's away from the prying eyes of his family."

Coming to a final decision, Liz closed her eyes as she took in deep breaths of air before opening them and resuming cooking.

Knock, knock...

Distracted after hearing someone knock on their door, Liz snuffed out the flames in the fireplace before walking out of the kitchen.

With Adrian's figure being the first thing she saw, Liz stared into the boy's eyes before signaling for him to open it. Her face showed that she wasn't worried about them getting attacked.

'Here goes nothing.' Adrian said to himself after Liz permitted him to open the door. His hands were sweaty and his throat dry as memories from his previous life flooded his mind.

The closer his hand reached for the doorknob, the faster memories of some medieval movies where the villain would knock on the door before killing the whole family after it was opened.

If only he had known that they were living inside the Palace that was packed with guards he wouldn't have been worried.

"Huh?" Liz stared at Adrian's figure as she saw his sweaty body and slow movements. She wondered what would make the Adrian she was used to suddenly act like this.

His hands finally touched the doorknob after what seemed like an eternity as he swallowed his saliva. Slowly turning it, Adrian's heart thumped loudly in his chest as he hoped that it was due to the movies that he had watched that he was getting a bad feeling.

After he opened the door, Adrian came face to face with the dark figure of a man. If he didn't have the mentality of a seventeen-year-old, Adrian would've probably pissed himself on the spot after looking at the person.

....

Author's note- The person figure was dark due to some form of magic and not darkness.

....

Not needing anyone to tell him to move out of the way, Adrian walked a few meters away from the door as he stared at the entering figure with squinted eyes.

When the person had entered under the illumination of the light crystals in their house, the darkness around him seemed to recede as the person's true form was revealed to them.

"Huh?" Shocked by the figure of the person before him, it wasn't the macho old ass man that Adrian expected to see. It was something even more stunning.

'What is she doing here?' Adrian asked himself as he looked at the girl in front of him. Yes, that's right a girl. As she seemed to be between fourteen to fifteen years old and if Adrian added his age from both his lives, she barely qualified to be his younger sister.

"Good evening Sister Liz." The girl said slightly bowing her head to Liz's direction. Proving that they had known each other for some time.

Nodding in response, Liz looked at Adrian before saying. "This is your Teacher. She would teach you about magic so be nice to her okay."

"Okay," Adrian replied as he stared at the girl in front of him. As his eyes ran through every inch of her body, Adrian couldn't help but admit that she was well-proportioned for her age.

'But I expected something a little bit more.' Adrian said closely eyeing the girl. Adrian didn't mean perversely but as a teacher.

To him, the best teacher would be a pervy old coot who had a long beard but the girl in front of him wasn't even old yet, forget about the beard Adrian doubted if she had already begun growing her hair.

"I'll be back when I'm done with cooking," Liz said walking to the kitchen after deciding it was time for her to resume cooking.
