A massive explosion echoed throughout the Imperial City, sending waves of panic through the populace. The ministers inside the palace fled in all directions, their previous confidence in the Empire shattered by the display of power they had just witnessed.
"This feels really refreshing. This is the first time I've used an attack spell since coming out." Ignoring the fleeing imperial ministers, Arifureta retracted her hand, a satisfied expression on her face. The previous attack hadn't drained much of her mana, but if she had used all her power, she was certain the entire Imperial City wouldn't have been able to withstand it.
"I didn't realize you had such a violent side." Eriri teased Arifureta with a smile, then waved a hand in front of Shea's face. "Shea, snap out of it."
It was clear that Arifureta's previous attack had left a deep impression on Shea, who was still staring blankly at the crater. On the other hand, little Reina seemed entirely unaffected, obediently holding Eriri's left hand while looking adorably at the interaction between the three.
Regaining her senses, Shea excitedly grabbed Arifureta's arm, shaking it up and down. "Instant kill! Instant kill! Arifureta, are you a goddess? That was amazing!"
"Oh, it's nothing, really. I'm just a little bit stronger than those imperial knights." Arifureta, embarrassed by Shea's praise, especially in front of so many chat group members, downplayed her own strength, even though she was just a low-level fighter, not even at Third Level yet.
Shea didn't read too much into her words, but the two lower-level members of the chat group couldn't help but feel a bit overshadowed.
[Chika Fujiwara: Yeah, just a tiny bit stronger.]
[Asuna: Yeah, just a tiny bit stronger.]
[Arifureta (Group Leader): I mean, I'm only a few levels higher than them. We're all at Second Level, right?]
[Chika Fujiwara: Uh-huh, just a few levels higher. Expressionless.jpg]
[Asuna: Uh-huh, just a few levels higher. Expressionless.jpg]
[Arifureta (Group Leader): Hey, stop repeating me, you two.]
[Pillar of Flowers: Um… Arifureta, how much of your power did you use in that attack?]
[Arifureta (Group Leader): Hmm… about 10%?]
[Pillar of Flowers: The difference between levels at Third Level is that big? Just 10% of your power is already stronger than me…]
[Iron-Blooded Hot-Blooded Cold-Blooded Vampire: I found Arifureta's attack rather ordinary.]
[Ashen Witch: Wow, you're all so strong. Too bad I'm only at Second Level, Eighth Stage. It's so hard to level up.]
[Arche Eeb Rile Furt: I'm only at Second Level, Fourth Stage, so I'll stay quiet.]
[Kashiwagi Eri: This is nothing. The higher your level, the bigger the gap between levels.]
[Sakura Matou: Arifureta is amazing! Did those people run away?]
[Kashiwagi Eri: Huh? Sakura, when did you join the stream?]
[Sakura Matou: About ten minutes ago. Um, Eriri, you're really strong too! You took down that emperor so easily, hehe.]
[Pillar of Flowers: Um… Sakura's still so young. Is it really okay for her to see these kinds of scenes?]
[Sakura Matou: Sister Kanae, does that mean I can't watch the stream?]
[Pillar of Flowers: Ah… that's not what I meant. I just…]
[Kashiwagi Eri: It's fine. In fact, it might be better this way. It'll help her when she has to face the old worm later.]
Even though Sakura is only four years old, Eriri felt it was necessary for her to witness the harsh realities of the world. After all, being too naive could lead to major problems down the line.
The difference between chatting in the group and watching the stream was that, with strong enough willpower, chatting didn't interfere with external activities. Therefore, neither Shea nor Reina realized that Eriri and Arifureta were multitasking, engaging in lively conversation in the chat group while slowly approaching the incapacitated Gahard on his throne.
[Sakura Matou: The old worm?]
[Kashiwagi Eri: Yes, he's the one who will make your future miserable, and the person you'll have to kill one day]
[Sakura Matou: But… is it really okay for me to kill someone?]
[Chika Fujiwara: Yeah, having a little kid kill someone doesn't sound right at all!]
[Arifureta (Group Leader): I think it's necessary, considering how despicable the old worm is.]
[Pillar of Flowers: Eriri, Arifureta, could you maybe explain a bit more? Playing coy like this isn't good.]
[Sakura Matou: Yeah, I want to know too.]
[Kashiwagi Eri: Alright, I'll upload a snippet of Sakura's future. I didn't want to reveal this much, but… Sigh.]
[Ding, Kashiwagi Eri has uploaded the memory fragment 'A Glimpse of Sakura's Future'.]
Eriri didn't upload too much, just the scene where Sakura was overwhelmed by the Crest Worms, a moment that sent shivers down the spines of the chat group members.
Sakura, lying in bed and watching the stream, turned pale as she watched the memory fragment. Terror filled her heart, and she started to tremble uncontrollably. Tears welled up and streamed down her cheeks as she shook her head repeatedly, muttering, "I don't want this… I don't want this…"
[Sakura Matou: I don't want that future… Eriri, please save me!]
[Kashiwagi Eri: Don't cry, Sakura. I already promised I'd change your future, didn't I?]
[Sakura Matou: …Okay… but…]
[Chika Fujiwara: !!!]
[Chika Fujiwara: So many worms… it gives me chills. Fear.jpg]
[Asuna: My whole body feels weird… I'm seriously unwell right now. Poor Sakura.]
[Pillar of Flowers: That old man is beyond cruel! How could he do that to a little girl? He deserves to die!]
[Archangel Gabriel: That really freaked me out…]
[Iron-Blooded Hot-Blooded Cold-Blooded Vampire: Even I feel a bit nauseous…]
[Ashen Witch: Poor Sakura!]
[Arifureta (Group Leader): And that's just the beginning of her suffering…]
[Sakura Matou: …]
[Asuna: No wonder you didn't want to show Sakura's future before. Just this little snippet gave me a serious case of the creeps…]
[Kashiwagi Eri: Sakura, did you see that disgusting old man? He's the 'old worm' I was talking about, and the one you need to kill someday.]
[Sakura Matou: …I understand. I'll make sure he pays, no matter what!]
