He loved me. I couldn’t believe it. Leonel loved me.

My whole life I had heard about the mate bond and how it was unlike anything else that you could ever experience and now, I understood why. With those three words, I was putty, and my heart felt fuller…whole.

He was my soulmate, and he completed me.

And I loved him, too.

Who would have guessed that this was how it would have happened when I first met him all those weeks ago? He would have guessed it, I’m sure. He was always so sure of our connection and the bond we shared.

Noticing how great I felt in the moment, I quickly regretted ever rejecting him in the first place. If I had known how amazing it would be—submitting to the bond—would I have changed my mind?

Doubtful. I was pretty stubborn.
