Capítulo 8: Chapter 7

Aria jumped at the sound of the knocks.

"Quick you need to leave, it must be Roren, I am not allowed to let someone in my room," she said pushing him towards the window.

"How will I leave?" he whispered back.

"out of the window," she said.

"What? No!" he hissed back.

"Yes! you said your room is right above, come on, I'll make sure you don't fall" she said.

Ash soon found himself standing on the window ledge of Aria's room and looking up towards his window, there was quite a gap to clear, he definitely couldn't jump that high. Aria then grabbed his legs and said some words he didn't understand, a warm feeling surrounded his legs and he started floating up, he lost balance and turned upside down, but his legs kept going up, he grabbed the window ledge and pulled himself close to the wall, suddenly the warm feeling vanished and he barely managed to stay on the window, he looked down, Aria checked he was fine than disappeared a small smile on her face. Ash pulled himself in breathing hard and looking at his legs.

Was that magic? He knew the elves were much better at using magic than humans, but to do it so easily. They once had a human wizard come to their town to show tricks at a carnival, but he only did simple stuff. For humans to harness magic they either have to be special with an affinity towards magic like elves, or use some kind of magical artifact.

He heard some noises coming from Aria's room but he couldn't make any sense of them and so he went back to his bed and lay down thinking about things. The sun was just about set, this had been a crazy day, but he knew for some reason that tomorrow was going to be even crazier and the coming days even more and he fell asleep before he knew it.

He woke up to knocks on his door, the sun had set completely and it was completely dark outside his window, At night the keep had a kind of peaceful beauty about it, the shadowy blue mountains and the glinting night sky were a nice combination. He opened the door, it was Ron.

"I didn't see you at the dinner," said Ron coming in.

"I fell asleep and missed the bell," said Ash.

"No worries, I can bring you some later after the cook goes to bed," said Ron looking out his window. Just as he reached it, a figure appeared from somewhere below and perched on the window, making Ron jump back and shriek. Ash grabbed and covered his mouth before he shouted.

"Shhh, It's only Aria," said Ash.

"Who?" Ron was about to protest, when Aria jumped in the light, revealing her amazing beauty. She had changed from her travel clothes it looked, she had discarded her brown jacket which she was wearing before, and now she was wearing a top that showed a lot of skin. Her figure was much more deadly than Ash had realized, Ron with much less tact, kept staring at her chest, as she moved forward, almost relishing the effect she had on the two boys. Ash hit Ron slightly on the head to make him look up.

"Princess, have you had dinner?" asked Ash to break the silence of the room.

"yes, I didn't see you there, Who is he?" she asked pointing at Ron.

"This is Ron, he works here, a friend of mine, you can trust him," he said. Ron gulped and tried to look Aria in the eyes but he was short and her large assets were at his eye level so it was difficult for him to keep control.

"Roren told me, that you will be going to the Elven kingdom as the human ambassador," said Aria.

"I guess I will be going, Derek decided on his own," said Ash.

"We will be leaving tomorrow, I am kind of glad it's you, taking some stranger, the journey would have been torture," said Aria.

"Ummm, I should leave, I have come to work, If you are leaving tomorrow, you should write that letter and give it to me tomorrow morning," said Ron, after finally having his full of staring.

After Ron left, Aria turned and leaned against the window to look out.

"I love watching the night sky, it's rare to have this clear night, usually there are clouds in this region" she was saying. But Ash wasn't paying much attention, his eyes were somewhere else, his hormones finally taking over.

"How did Roren react?" he asked coming closer to where she was standing.

"He is more busy planning his travels, so he won't pay us much attention to us" Aria replied.

"You don't like him very much?" he asked leaning beside her, he hadn't been this close to her, he hadn't been this close to any girl. From this vantage point, he could look down her top, and see a lot, but he had practice so he was able to not be obvious.

"Roren is fine, he is a loyal and brave warrior, but I don't like him trying to be my bodyguard especially when I am stronger than him," she said.

"That thing you did earlier today, how did you do it?" he asked remembering. She looked up in his face, their lips inches apart.

"That was just a simple spell," she said. She smelled like wood and summer.

"Surely you have seen it before, Derek is pretty good at it," said Aria.

"No, there wasn't anyone where I grew up who could do any spell, and we never got in any situation where Derek had to use it," he said.

"So you have never checked your affinity?" she asked.

"Affinity? Humans aren't that good at magic" he said.

"No, every living creature has an affinity even if they have very low magical ability, I know it's rare among you humans, but I am sure you have some, otherwise Derek wouldn't have picked you as his apprentice, there is no way you can deal with other magical beings without it, us magic users can feel it better," said Aria.

There it was, the reason Derek had chosen him, it was still not something to be too amazed about, but it now made more sense, he was feeling like an outsider in this world, but if he had some magic affinity then.

"How will I know it?" he asked at once.

"Come on, let me see, take your shirt off," she said.

"What?" he asked taken aback.

"Oh fine, but you will have to pull your shirt up, I need to check your heart," she said.

Ash pulled his shirt up, she placed her hand on the middle of his chest where his heart was beating loudly. She closed her eyes for some time.

"It's not one of the common ones, I think It might be related to whether," said Aria.

"To weather?" he asked confused.

"yes, some wizards can change the weather at will, although that takes a lot of power to do it at once, so anything related to that is considered pretty hard to train in, I mean it's much easier if you can see something happen, see your progress," she said.

"How can you tell what it is?" he asked.

"You just get a sense, like a smell or feeling, if you try to probe someone's core, here you try with me," she said.
