Capítulo 65: Chapter 64
Fiona had to let go of the falcons soon, she could feel the emotions of exhaustion and pain coming from them. So she returned to her own body in a sudden jump, breaking the connection like last time was a painful experience, when she came back to her senses and opened her eyes, the nerves in her head were sore.
Fiona looked around expecting Ron to be beside her but instead, she saw with alarm a huge bear standing over her.
"Looks like you are back, little girl," spoke the bear surprising her.
"Where is Ron?" she asked unsurely.
"He went with Dean a while ago, look there they are, looks like they are heading for the castle, " the bear talked looking over the top of everyone, only he could see whatever he was seeing.
"Let's go there too, get on my back, it will be faster, " said the bear and crouched down on all fours, he was still taller than a horse and Fiona had to try a couple of times before she was able to get on.
"I am Yanod by the way," said the bear.
"Fiona, " she said her name which ended in a high-pitched cry as the bear jumped over the crowd and landed on top of a house with one jump. Fiona grabbed on tight while Yanos jumped from one roof to another to get to the castle.
The castle was a big structure that could be seen from miles away, it had tall towers and grey rock walls which stood out from the rest of the wooden buildings.
Derek and Isanna had reached the castle to find a big battle going on, there was a big iron gate stuck feet above in a wall which made people wonder what kind of thing could have thrown such a heavy gate so high.
But the question was immediately answered when a large beast burst through a wall and slammed into a group of mages and knocked them all over hard full of rage, then they saw that the beast was half human.
"That must be the Duke, Forin, " said Derek.
There were a lot of mages all around trying to subdue the Duke. Similar fights were going on everywhere with all kinds of half-breeds and barbarians.
"Looks like the half-breeds have got the upper hand, I wonder how they were defeated in the first place, the barbarians look the weaker ones, " said Isanna.
"That's because this is not a quarter of their actual power, these are just common soldiers and unturned mages, " said Derek.
"Unturned mages?" asked Isanna.
"The ones that haven't gone to the dark side yet, don't use blood magic, " said Derek.
"Then where are they?" asked Isanna.
"Waiting if they are needed, " said Derek.
"So should we wait too?" she asked.
"No they will come sooner or later, we want to make sure we can focus on them, we have to clear these smaller distractions quickly, " said Derek.
"Then let's get to it," said Isanna.
They took out their swords, Derek's sword was emblazoned with red flames and Isanna's started glowing with yellow light.
The fight was so far somewhat equal, but the mages were staying back and throwing long-range attacks while the half-breeds had to get in close to attack back.
This was annoying the half-breeds more and more, they were growling and roaring to get their hands on the mages, but then suddenly two very fast red and yellow blurs entered in the middle of the fight, and the mages started falling.
Derek was running too fast for anyone to see he was threading through the crowd with ease and whenever he came across a mage, he would slash with his burning sword and the mages couldn't do anything. The mages reacted with fear and started pouring all their manas into their attacks to increase the destruction, Isanna found a nice angle and charging her sword released all of the energy in one horizontal slash, the energy cut through the crowd at once and all the mages stopped moving there spells exploded right where they were standing and their numbers were suddenly reduced to half.
Derek knew they were soon going to show themselves, he had to be ready, but then suddenly Forin jumped right in the middle of his path to stop him.
"State your name, " he growled.
"Calm down, Duke Forin, we are on your side, your friend Donald has sent me, " said Derek.
"Why would Donald send some humans, instead of coming with the Royal army? " Forin was desperate for some answers.
But just then something happened that stopped everyone in their tracks, a strange creepy feeling spread throughout the city and the sky started to change its color.
It slowly turned the shade of blood and the sun was hidden by clouds.
"Isanna!" Derek called her to his side.
"Duke Forin, you should take cover, " said Derek.
"Watch who you are talking to human, " he growled.
"Then tell me where is the princess, we need to make sure she is alive, " said Derek.
This faltered Forin and he looked around.
"Barnes, where are Emily and Vanessa?" he asked a tiger man.
"They were with James and Dean the last time I saw them near the warehouse where all of us were, " replied Barnes.
"Then where is James!" Forin shouted but just then a large black hole appeared right above Forin's head in the sky and out of the hole they first saw an eye look down.
"What the hell is that?" Forin growled.
"It's worse than I thought, " Derek said.
Then two large green hands appeared at the corners of the hole and they pulled the hole wider and the creature put one leg out, it landed on both half-breeds and barbarians, and then the whole monster appeared. It was twice as tall as the tallest tower in the castle, it's one toe was as big as Forin.
Everyone was just looking at it frozen not knowing what to do.
"It's a cyclops, " said Derek.
"A what?" asked Isanna.
"I once saw it in a book, " he said.
The cyclopes looked down with one eye, it blinked then in an instant a large beam of energy shot from its eye straight down on them.
"Run!" someone finally broke the silence.
Ron was on the back of Lufius who had transformed completely into a wolf, Dean and others were running beside them, they had just caught up with Fiona and Yanos.
"Look there is James, fighting off some barbarians, " said Dean, and Ron saw him taking care of some barbarians in a street. James heard them and came running fast.
"I thought you would be at the castle by now, " said Dean.
"There are so many of them all over the city, I have been cleaning up the dirt, " he said.
"Let's go to the castle now, the real fight is going on over there, " said Dean. But they all stopped in their tracks when they saw the cyclops appear. Ron had never seen something so big, he was shaking with terror and so was the wolf underneath him. Then the beam fell from the cyclops's eye and the ground shook terribly.
