Capítulo 1: Prologue
"Seth, any updates on the attack?" A dark-haired old woman marched towards a twenty-something blonde boy.
The person addressed turned around with a loud huff. His blonde hair was gelled in discipline, he had cerulean blue eyes and a taut jawline which was clean-shaven.
"No, Evangeline. Scarlet is working on it." Seth replied in a heavy tone.
Evangeline sighed. The sigh was resigned and weary. It signalled the end of deliberate effort and the beginning of passive deterioration. Seth felt disappointed, completely ashamed of himself for making her feel sad and dejected. She was like a mother to him, not only him, she marvelously performed the role of a mother figure to everyone on the squad.
The squad formed by her and her husband, David Williams.
The Sequinned Potential.
"Let's hope she gets some information soon. The human world is in danger, Seth." Her breath was becoming more shaky by the minute.
The old woman smiled at him, patted his back and left. Seth gazed into the distance; a natural scenery from the window of their keep. Mother Nature was so beautiful, he thought. But it won't be anymore if Elias begins to destroy it. His blood started to boil and he kept gazing outside, fisting his hands.
A loud, thundering scream resonated throughout the keep. Seth was startled and after a few moments of frozen bewilderment, he ran towards the direction of the noise. There she was, the source of the scream: Evangeline.
The old woman's eyes were wide with horror, the mouth rigid and open, her chalky face gaunt and immobile, the fists clenched with blanched knuckles and the nails digging deeply into the palms of her hand. All the members of the squad gathered around her, all of them with shocked faces.
The scream tore through Seth like a great shard of glass. He felt his eyes widen and pulse quicken, his heart thudding like a rock rattling in box. She screamed again, this time, in a silent way. Her muffled scream struck at the back of her throat worried him more.
"Evangeline?" He gathered up the courage to ask.
She put up her arm and pointed her finger somewhere. Seth's gaze followed her finger which was directed towards the locker of the keep. The locker where something precious was kept, the locker which was so strictly coded that no outsider could know the password and open it.
The locker was gaping open. And the precious thing was gone.
The Green Crystal.
The whole arena started filling with horrid gasps and chaos. There were screams, squeals and shouts. Evangeline stood dead on her feet and so did Seth. He was so still as if no movement could move him. Everything seemed to be collapsing.
"No, this can't happen." He whispered.
