"I don't owe you any explanation," Noah replied coldly, his hand gripping the door knob.
"What's with this behaviour? You're the one who claimed to love me. Was it all a lie, Noah?" Sarah's words stopped Noah in his tracks, preventing him from leaving.
He turned to face her, his gaze filled with icy indifference. "Love? And what about you? Do you love me?"
Noah's unexpected question left Sarah stunned. She was silent for a few seconds, grappling with her own emotions. "I don't fully understand my feelings, but I am marrying you not out of hatred. Can you say the same?"
Noah's intense stare bore into Sarah's as he tried to come up with an answer. "Well…" he stepped back, moving closer to the door, and a subtle smirk formed on his lips. "I just realised something," he chuckled. "There's nothing about you that I love."
Sarah stood there, her gaze fixed on Noah as her chest was heaving up and down. The pain started to seep into her heart, and she could feel her spirit sinking. "Why are you doing this all of a sudden?" she mumbled, her voice trembling. Her eyes filled with tears, reflecting the hurt that consumed her.
Sarah clutched her chest in pain, feeling the heaviness of her emotions. "It must be true, I'm just foolish," she said softly, sinking down to the floor, her legs unable to support her any longer.
Noah, who had remained silent all this time, crouched down beside her. "Oh, there is one thing I love about you," he said, his smile widening. He reached out and grasped the end of her hair. "Your hair," he sneered. "But I'm sorry, there's nothing else about you that stands out."
Slapping Noah's hand away, Sarah's voice trembled with a mix of anger and hurt. "So, I can conclude that all this time, you've just been using me?"
Noah's smirk faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "Well, what else did you expect?" he retorted, his tone laced with disdain. "You were nothing more than a means to an end for me."
Sarah's eyes filled with tears as the reality of Noah's deception sank in. She held onto the wall, her voice shaking with a mix of sorrow and anger. "I trusted you, Noah. I thought there was something real between us," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But now I see that it was all a lie." A bitter laugh escaped her lips, a sound filled with pain.
Slowly gathering her strength, Sarah stood up, determination in her eyes. "Since the marriage registration was fake, I guess there is nothing binding us anymore, right?" She leaned against the wall for support. "Noah, considering my rent deposit is for three months, I expect you to return them when I leave this house," she declared, her voice steady.
Without waiting for a response, she made her way towards the door. "I would appreciate it if you could give me at least a week to gather my belongings and find a new place to rent," she requested, her hand on the doorknob. "For now, please leave, Mr. Noah."
"Who said there's nothing binding us?" Noah retorted, his heart pounding in his chest as he struggled to maintain composure. "We still have a three-month contract, remember?"
"It's all fake!" Sarah shouted in anger.
"The marriage certificate may be fake, but the contract is real. You signed it," Noah's unwavering gaze pierced through Sarah, causing her immense pain.
Biting her lip, Sarah couldn't hold back her frustration any longer. "You bastard," she muttered under her breath, the words carrying the weight of her anger and resentment.
"If you want to break the contract, I have no problem with it, but you'll have to repay me," Noah stated, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
"For what?! There is no such thing in the agreement!" Sarah's breathing became heavier as her anger intensified.
"That's why it's important to read and understand the terms of any contract before signing," Noah paused, leaning closer to Sarah's ear, his voice dripping with condescension. "Properly," he emphasised each word, making sure his point was clear.
As Sarah's anger escalated, her fist clenched tightly, her knuckles turning white with tension. The intensity of her emotions caused her body to stiffen, and she took a deep, heavy breath. In a moment of recklessness, she swung her palm towards Noah, aiming to slap him. However, he swiftly intervened, managing to block her attempt.
"You coward!" Sarah shouted at the top of her lungs. "Go to hell!" Exhausted from the overwhelming emotions that had consumed her energy, she collapsed onto the floor, her body weak and drained.
Noah's smile widened as he responded, "Hope to cooperate well with you these three months, Miss Sarah." With that, he slammed the door closed, leaving Sarah alone with her thoughts and the aftermath of their heated exchange.
The door shut tightly, enveloping the house in silence. Sarah stared at it, feeling her sanity slip away, leaving her overwhelmed and confused.
The night sky appeared burdened, threatening rain as if mirroring its anger towards Noah. Hurrying back to his car, he stole a quick glance at the towering apartment.
"Matt, make sure my dad keeps his distance from her," Noah instructed firmly as he settled into the car. He closed his eyes and released a heavy sigh. "Let's head home."
"Yes, sir," Matthew nodded, his expression filled with sympathy. He could sense that something had occurred at the main house before they arrived, as Noah's mood had significantly worsened.
"Make her disappear, or I'll take care of it myself," Jacob's words earlier lingered on Noah's mind. He knew his father meant every word he said. Despite his initial motive of seeking revenge, he found himself developing a growing desire to shield Sarah from harm.
"Matt," Noah called out to Matthew, breaking the silence of the night.
"Yes, sir," Matthew responded promptly.
"The contract that Sarah signed," Noah paused for a moment, "burn it and ensure there is no evidence left behind."
