With his own parents being the whole reason he was embarrassed in the first place, and his girlfriend knowing more and more about his childhood - especially the embarrassing parts - by the minute, James left the dining room after their dinner had ended with his face pale, and his brain not being able to function properly due to the strong feelings of embarrassment he felt. 

Marcus had called the dinner to an end after a long day of meetings and preparations for the upcoming ceremony that was, unfortunately, happening tomorrow. 

Marcus wanted to abdicate as soon as possible, to finally be able to spend more time with his wife and watch happily as his own flesh and blood claimed the throne and became King anywhere during the interregnum.
