Capítulo 28: Chapter 28: Blaze Leads the Way

Edith ran swiftly towards the Manor, horror welling up inside her as she saw the flames taking hold. One side of the Manor was engulfed in flames. She had to get inside. She had to get to her father’s cat.

Suddenly, a firm hand grabbed her shoulder, pulling her to a halt.

“Edith!” Caden turned her to face him. “You can’t go in there!”

Edith tried to twist her arm away, but Caden’s grip on her shoulder was unyielding. The sirens were getting closer, but the flames seemed to be spreading unnaturally fast.

“I have to get Blaze. I have to!” Edith cried.

“Edith,” Caden looked towards his house. “I’ll go in and look for him. I’ll get the cat.”

The young woman tossed her red hair and tried to shrug off Caden’s grip.

“Oh really?” She laughed desperately. “You are going to go find the cat who has always run away from you in fear? The cat who hisses at you and waits till you are gone before coming to me?”
