Capítulo 41: A cat goddess

"Now what?" asked Pangu. "You don't suggest that you crawl to reach the tower, do you?"

"Do you have a better idea?" I said, still frowning.

"No. But anything but crawling would be nice."

"Why do you even care? Are you the one that's is crawling?"

He didn't answer. I took that as an indication that I should move.

With great difficulty, I forced myself to take another step. And with that, 6 months passed by.

In those months, we didn't talk that much. We both agreed to save the oxygen. However, the oxygen ceased gradually, until I reached halfway through the distance, where nothing could be breathed.

At this point, I have to rely entirely on the natural energy stored in my body. And when I say that, I don't know how will I manage to stay alive when the oxygen goes out. It took me 6 months to get the half of the distance, and the natural energy inside me disperses after two months only.

You must be thinking, how the hell did you manage this in only 6 months? The answer this, I forced myself to stay under the pressure, sometimes I even stayed days in the same place, but it was worth it, since I was getting more used to the difficulty.

Now why did I start narrating from this point, and any other point? Well something happened here of course.

I sat down to get some rest after two weeks of constant walking. I laid down on my back, on a small hill, and managed to take a nap.

Yeah we are coming to the strange thing in a moment. After an hour, or it seemed like that, one doesn't know how to track time here, I woke up.

"Finally!" said Pangu. "I have been waiting for you to wake up. Now don't you find that there is something wrong going on?"

Before I had the chance to respond, a cat passed by and sat in front of us.

Still having my eyes fixed on the cat, I said slowly, as if mystified, "Yes, this is definitely wrong."

"What the hell is this cat doing here?" he said. I didn't know what to answer. But this cat gave me a weird sensation, it was as if it wasn't a cat.

But what if it is not really a cat? What if it was...

A flash of information passed in my head. I remembered that ancient Egypt had a cat 'goddess' named Bast, daughter of Ra, which is basically the granddaughter of Richard.

To test if my thought was right, I got up and knelt before the cat, then said, "Hail the goddess Bast, daughter of the Godking Ra!"

You have to understand, I was like Richard not believing in gods and goddesses. I believed that there was only one God. But I had to put my beliefs aside if I wanted to know what's happening.

Fortunately and unfortunately, she was Bast. She was tall, skinny, brunette with black hair and eyes.

It is fortunate because she is Bast, as for why unfortunate, she didn't look very happy to see me. Her look was very deadly, as if I was a prey and she is a predator.

"Set!" she said, her tone itself could kill a mortal.

"Sorry?" I said, not sure what she meant. But of course I knew who was Set; he is the Egyptian god of chaos and fire.

"Don't play games, Set. I know it is you. You thought that you could hide very well from me, but you were wrong!"

"Look woman, I don't know what are you talking about. Don't mistake me as your nephew."

"Mistake you? You look the same as before, at the end of Egypt. But there is only two differences: One, your hair is white. Two, you are acting stupid."

"Hold on, you said that I look like Set?" Great, I needed another one to look like me.

"Stop denying your identity! I know that it is you, I can sense it. Before you destroyed Egypt, I vowed to kill you. And now the time has come."

She walked with slow steps towards me while taking an overelaborate sword from her waist. Before she struck, I yelled," Wait!"

"What? You want to say your final words, nephew?" she said.

"Can we at least talk first?"

"Talk?" she laughed. "You say that we should talk? Are you serious Set?"

"Yes I am, and stop calling me Set. First of all, there are many people that look like me, and one of them is your grandfather."

"My grandfather? You mean the Lord of Chaos?"

"Yes, my true-self. Second, I haven't reached 30 yet. How could I possibly destroy Egypt?"

She frowned but stayed silent. After a while, she sheathed her sword and said, "Alright. I will let you live. But I will ask my grandfather about you."

"Okay." Then she turned into a cat and strode away.

"Well that wasn't expected," I said.

"Yeah it was," said Pangu. "But that wasn't the wrong thing that I wanted to tell you about..."
