I straightened out my outfit, closed my eyes then breathed through my nose and mouth to calm myself down. If I entered Lobdell's office still so flustered and upset it would be obvious something had happened. Plus if he knew it was because of Runihura, I feared it would just make the hatred towards him worse.

Why I was still protecting the jackass?

I would never know.

Once I felt I had my ducks in a row and plastered on a happy fake smile on my face, did I raise my hand to knock on the dark brown stained hard wooden door.

"Come in," I heard from the other end.

I turned the door handle and walked in before closing the door behind me, "I just arrived. Sorry if I took some time."

"No problem," he waved his hand, "I just wanted to hear how you're finding things and if Runihura is treating you well. We haven't had a proper chance to talk since we got back into the office."
