It began with a whisper. There is a story that college students became ill as a result of the red Viper attack. Initially, Avery dismissed it as strain and tiredness. Despite everything, they'd gone through hell.

But as the days passed, the rumors became louder.

Avery first noticed something was wrong when she discovered Lucas bent over a garbage can inside the library, his face light and clammy. "It's not anything," he insisted, wiping his lips. "only a bug going round."

She wanted to agree with him, but a niggling sense in her gut told her this was more than just a typical cold.
