Roxana had no idea that hiring demons as her servants was so effective. In less than ten minutes, she no longer saw any dust on the walls or floors.
She also wanted to change some things in the manor so that she could erase any trace of her parents' memories.
"Incredible." Roxana couldn't stop smiling when she was captivated by the stunning beauty of the manor interior.
The candle chandeliers hung above the ceiling and looked more beautiful than ever with the addition of red gems at the bottom of the candle holders. The marble floors were polished to such a point that Roxana could see her reflection.
As she walked further into the manor, she couldn't help but feel a sense of enchantment after her eyes looked at every detail of the mansion, which seemed to be crafted with such care and elegance, from the intricate wood carvings to the velvet carpet adorning the luxurious marble.
"What do you think, My Lady?" Lamia spread her hands before Roxana as if she wanted to show her best work. "Do you like it?"
Roxana clapped her hands and praised Lamia's work. "You make this manor more elegant and beautiful. I really like it."
Lamia smiled broadly after hearing those praise words. "If you want me to change anything again, ask me whenever you like."
"No. I think this manor is already beautiful enough." Roxana walked around the manor. She touched the walls, feeling the different texture that no longer held memories of the past.
"Would your sister not mind if you changed the manor without her knowledge?" Damian asked.
Not that he cared about Rosaline's opinion, but Damian thought it might amuse him to see the two sisters bickering over Roxana's alteration of the manor's interior without her sister's knowledge.
"She won't know I changed it." Roxana said, "She'll probably only see me in court, and when she comes back to the mansion, I'm already the head of Oberon, so I have the right to change the mansion as I please."
Rosaline didn't even visit Roxana when she heard the news about the burning mansion. When their parents' funeral was held, Roxana pretended to be unable to get out of bed, so only Rosaline attended it.
However, Rosaline did not come to Aerilon after the funeral or send a letter to ask how her sister was doing. She might have been too busy working at the Black Tower, or perhaps she simply didn't care much about Roxana.
Damian, "When will the trial take place?"
"It won't be long. I believe Rosaline has already sent a submission letter to the palace, and I just need to wait for the invitation letter from the king." Roxana glanced at Lamia and the few other demons still around, then signaled Damian to speak in her chamber.
When there were only Roxana and Damian in the room, Roxana immediately had a serious conversation with him. "What percent chance do you think I can win the trial?"
Damian folded his arms in front of his chest, then answered casually. "Zero."
Roxana chuckled. She sat on the bed and glanced at the blue sky beyond the window. "Yes, the probability is zero because Rosaline is a hundred times better than me based on our reputation and ability."
"Should I kill your sister to make you the sole heir?" Damian asked with a smile. He couldn't wait to taste fresh human blood again.
"We can't do that." Roxana sighed. "People might start suspecting me if Rosaline dies too."
Moreover, Rosaline Oberon was a candidate for the Twelve Holy Wizards in the Black Tower, so the wizards in the Black Tower would definitely investigate her death until they could find out who had killed a prodigy like Rosaline.
"Then, what do you want to do?"
A sly smile crept across her face as Roxana thought of her plan, the cunning scheme that would undoubtedly secure her victory. She had spent five lifetimes studying court politics, learning every law that could benefit her.
As she rose from her bed, the folds of her elegant gown rustled softly. She walked toward the window and looked into her dim reflection. "If the reputation can't bring me luck, then I will propose a law about the position of the absolute head of the family determined through birth order."
Damian approached Roxana. He stood behind her and inhaled the lavender scent that emanated from Roxana's silver hair. "However, aren't you and Rosaline twin sisters?"
"Yes, we are. However, even twins are not born at the same time. When Rosaline and I were little, my mother and father said I was born five minutes earlier than Rosaline."
Roxana clenched her fists. "Unfortunately, they never revealed that fact again after my magical powers were not as good as Rosaline's. They even hid our birth certificates so no one would know that fact."
"So, do you know where he hid your birth certificates?" Damian brought his lips to Roxana's neck and blew a warm breath that made Roxana feel goosebumps.
"I'm not sure. But I know my father always kept important documents in his office in our family's factory."
"In that case, let's find the documents there."
Damian leaned his face closer to Roxana, his lips almost touching her earlobe, allowing her to feel the heat of the demon's hot breath. The seductive energy emanated from him as he said, "However before you command me again, you must feed me first."
Roxana tried to maintain her composure, but her heart raced as Damian whispered in a low, husky voice.
"Roxie, I'm hungry." Roxana felt a shiver run down her spine at his meaningful words, but she refused to show any sign of weakness.
She turned her head slightly toward Damian and gasped when she came face to face with crimson eyes that looked covered in mist. Damian had not touched Roxana's body for weeks while they were in Aerilon's residence.
Therefore, Damian could not wait to eat Roxana for the second time.
"It's still noon, Damian," she replied coyly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Damian chuckled. He licked Roxana's earlobe, and his hand felt Roxana's waist which was still covered by the dress and corset. "Well, my dear, I can eat at noon or midnight. Besides, your taste remains the same whenever I devour you."
