Ascending to greatness after a touching reveal
"Thank you.
I would like to make it short, move on quickly so that we can all celebrate the joining together.
But as soon to be emperor and more importantly a nephew I cannot party with heavy heart.
As always good and bad joins together, all leading up to this very moment, it has taken me years to return here. The place I was born, the place my earliest memories are made off, some may be confused as to why I left for so many years, others may know.
But I would like to take a moment to explain to all of you that joined us today my past, present and the hopes I would like to bring to the future.''
A cheer erupted and even Acacius could only applaud the boy in his mind, nevermind the slightly proud look on his as face as his fingers twirled with a piece of his cloak.
Waiting for Asani to spill so called secrets, reval hidden actions and broken trusts.
The coming words would break more than just one heart as Sophie had various supporters.
Waiting for the cheers to die out, he casted one more look in Acacius's direction before once more grabbing everyone's attention.
''The day I left I was around 9, unprepared in all the ways a child could possibly be, taking in consideration the fact that my father had just passed away made the whole experience weight even harder on me.
Even now I feel the scars from that time still etched upon my heart and they are unlikely to ever dissapear.''
The cameras dispersed on their own around them, catching what was happening, it was why he carefully mastered his experience as his own face took over various screens as did Asani's.
It was rather unpleasent, the little black boxes flying like flies all around him, letting everyone watch and judge him. No need to hide his squirming, along with that he never once dared to look at Asani as he stood tall, recounting his life outloud for millions to hear and see.
He was brave, so very brave and even tears brimmed in his hazel eyes Acacius did not seem to notice.
But the crowd sure did.
''It was a challenging time but from that I have grown.
Anger, sadness and pain made way for acceptance, kindness and love.
I found it in various places, could see it various eyes and found it in the darkest of places.
No matter how dark there was always a shred of love to be found, if only one where to look.
Because of this I had the oppertunity to stand before you today.
I would like to impart this knowledge to all who is willing to listen.
It makes life a little easier to handle, lightens the heavy heart and all it's scars.''
He paused, the following silence deep as it was shared between millions.
''It is a knowledge I imparted to people I hold dear, people I cherish and love.
Those people see things and go to places I couldn't in the past.
I stand proudly before you now but it is thanks to them I have come this far.
They went above and beyond to find out the truth.
And they did and as the public you have a right the know.''
Now it was a mix, ecstasy as people held their baited breath and others began demanded the truth without a trace of decorum.
Their was only one person that showed reluctance and even voiced it.
"Asani please, she is still yo-''With a dear in headlight look on his face as his voice sounded just as loudly around, Acacius forced his mouth shut. Asani's look clearly telling that he was only helping his speech.
"You have a right to know the happenings in your empire.
Wether it be the past, present or future.
It is well within your right.
Through careful findings, it has been revealed that my father, our former emperor, had been weakened by a posion."
Outrage, they did not believe and those who did were silent.
Clenching his hands together, the armor painfully cold, he bit his inner mouth in restraint. Eyes swirling with torment, what a little magic didn't accomplish!
Asani continued strongly, not even bothering to wait for the silence to return.
"My father died due to the poison and the final push by my uncle.
Forcing me to run for my life, only a maid and some gold left to accompany.
It wasn't till a few months ago that I found something unexpectant out.
Something I did not dare to believe until irrefutable proof found it's way before my eyes.
I became aware that it wasn't my uncle who planned to take the throne but somebody I trusted even after the passing of years, the missing of memories.
A person I held so dear as any child would.
Somoene who, without anyone being the wiser, weilded the power for all those years.
My uncle, barely a puppet upon strings.''
Implications clear, he stopped. Letting everone connect his words, see and hear the truth for themselfs and form a way to accept it.
Blinking heavily in a way to stop the brimming tears, as he had just yawned making it worse than that small proud moment form before, Acacius was more than aware that everyone was now gauging him. Wether it be on screen or on the platfrom.
He didn't deign them an answer, also keeping tall and mighty, as best as 'could' ofcourse.
''Poison, killing, forcing her own child away those are all things, crimes my mother commited, the former empress, without anyone being the wiser.
That is, ofcourse, without including my uncle.
The moment he dealt the finishing blow to father he was being threathened with my life.''
As soon as the last sentence ended, all screens but four with Asani and him on showed...his room.
Taking two steps, Acacius realised the moment the video appeared what it was about.
The one were he was first tortured,he still remembered the way his nerves burned.
Rubbing his neck unconciously, he begged with moist eyes for Asani not to do it.
As soon as the video started playing a tear dropped , out of his control as his voice and that of Asani sounded. Weren't those without sound?
{"I've been waiting.''
''You should've kept waiting.''}
.
The screen showed exactly what he experienced, it was weird seeing something fromt the past just show up like that. He expected a speech but that Asani actually recorded that and even added theot voices was...unexpected.
.
And there he went doubling down, not acting as did actually hurt. He could still feel the phantom pains as his hand dind't move from his throat. Was it protection or was he so used to acting?
There was more sweat than he was aware of at that moment.
.
{Until when? The moment Asani comes off age and has enough power to threaten me?''
Sophie smiled at the obvious pressed down lips, thinking she had it all figured out.
"He's your son.'' One last emphatic plea, a meek and tired one.
''He should be glad he's still alive.
I expect you earlier next week.''
Watching her go back inside the hidden passageway with moist eyes, he carefully kept control of his facial expression. Swallowing as his lips pressed firmly together.}
.
Shaking noticable, he barely kept standing by leaning against a table, the dead dead silence pointing out just how revealing and shattering the recording was for the crowd.
His nephew was doing such a good job, immediately taking advantage of the situation to continue to the next.
.
The moment where they found themselves in her former and bigger 'jail'. But there was a real prisoner who she skinned much to the uproar and horror of the public, Asani had even included a small moment.
Asani showed the burning punishments once more, him clutching and crying out but also highlighted the risk he took by helping the prisoner.
Pale and gulping, Acacius spoke up when the torturing eyes kept burning holes in him, millions of pair. ''Stop it, just stop.'' It was soft, everyone heard and everyone saw him reach and grab onto Asani's shoulder. Veins on his hands bulging as he hold on thight.
'That's enough..Asani...that's enough.''
It had never been so still, so tense as all wondered what would happen next as Hazel eyes stared into his nephew's magical onces.
Tears spilling one by one, not only by him but by countless members of the crowd. Some nodding, wishing for it to end, as it ruined their childhood idolization of the imprisoned empress.
Asani did not stop, the next one came and Acacius could do nothing but let his head hang in defeat.
{By the way she relaxed it was obvious she wanted to merely enjoy the silence, no matter how displeased over the specimens death she considered it inadequate as a reason to raise her voice.
She will soon have one.
Leaving his visible unease behind, his eyes filled with loathing and his voice spat out words traces of venom laced upon.
''It's Asani's birthday, your son, if you cared you would remember.''
Another milestone in his journey to another world.
The mention wasn't welcome, nails digged sharply over his face as his neck got caged in the grasp of her free hand, holding him as words got whisphered in his ear
''He was made on a loveless day, how about we make another one?''
Trying to draw away, shock and surprise a real emotion on his face, realisation set in.
.
"You, who are only capable of hurting people so that you can feel, will never be worthy of love."
Soft lips placed themselves on his ear, a slow breath later, words were returned.
''Says the one who looks for love somewhere else."
Action followed as she angrily breathed, the noise too close to his liking as her hand left his neck, interlacing within his auburn hair. No matter how evil one could be she was way too efficient!
''How did yo-!'' Snapping his mouth shut, he closed it firmly. Distance had increased again, making it easy to see his firmly closed mouth, in a way signaling she would never get something out of him. She quickly rose to the occasion with her signature snapped fingers.
"Who was it?
Who touched you, a person I have claimed for myself?''}
.
.
.
Asani showed everything, every single moment he had deemed important, the ones in private with only Sophie present and even the ones happening in front of others.
Not once did he stop to give Acacius breathing room, he went and he went hard. Public rapidly going from disbelief, to shock, to outrage and even flowing tears.
Especially when the moment was showed in wich Sophie turned breathing human beings into balls, some retched, other fainted and it didn't help that it showed thrice.
The more their tears flowed, the more he became cold, face as if frozen by the cold wind passing.
The more emphatic, the more he glared at Asani. All for his future, ofcourse.
Restraining a grin he watched Asani begining to move, showing he was done with the proof.
His voice smoothly flowing out and grabbing everyone's thoughts.
''It was a difficult truth to accept, my mother capable of hiding the truth for power.
A truth that pained me, one that I could not deny you all knowing.
You deserve to know, my mother deserves her punishment and my uncle deserves to be freed from the burden placed upon him!
Years he lived for me, put his own interest away so that I could leave freely.
It is high time I make up for that, a responsibility I share with each of you.
One may say he didn't do much but considering the constrictions placed upon him; he has done better than even I ever could.
The first years he spent recovering from war, taking care of the wounded and all the things that came with it. After that he started changing the laws, women and men were equal whether it be on the battlefield, hospitals or in the noble ranks.
As it should be.''
Slow claps turned millionfold, he sounded proud, his eyes looked proud and he gave of that energy to the crowd. They saw him in a new light, a better light, as bright as the sun that now set upon them. One they shared with the people staring underneath them.
" He changed many things, went out of his way to build fighting rings so that people in affected areas could have a way of making money. At night he went out bringing food and snacks, personally handing them out to people in need.
He is an example, a person one should look up to and wonder how strong he was.
How did he stand everything all those years alone? Unsure of what the future would bring for him?
It is why I have decided to make a statue in honour of the chances he gave me.
It is one I intend to finish before the month has ended.''
It was perhaps his own quilt for what was to come that he distanced from his place besides Asani, before the month was over he would go back to his own life as Adrian.
He wouldn't see the finished statue, he didn't even deserve one.
