Capítulo 56: Working Nonstop

The old servant led me into a large kitchen with a dozen or so servants. Some were cutting the vegetables; some were making the fire; some were washing the vegetables, and so on. Everyone bowed their heads in silence. When they saw Mandy lead me into the kitchen, everyone put down their work and stood up respectfully.

"Madam Mandy!" That was what everyone called her.

"This is Miss Annie. She's here to help with the kitchen today!" Mandy pointed at a fat round-faced woman and said, "Help Madam Tom wash the vegetables today!"

The round-faced woman called Madam Tom looked at Mandy in confusion, and just as she was about to speak her mind, the old woman Mandy glared at her and said sternly, "Do as I say, and don't ask questions!"

"Yes, Madam Mandy!" Madam Tom walked over to me with her head down and whispered, "Come with me!"
