~ DAVID ~
Somewhere in my head an alarm rang, a caution.
Our reunion should be graceful, tender, beautiful… but I took her like an animal—grunting and roaring.
Yet, instead of turning from my lack of finesse, she cried tears of joy and clung to me.
My body sang. And hers sang back.
"Zara, Zara, oh—"
"Don't stop. Don't stop."
It felt as if my body would quake like the earth, tear apart at the seams of land and water. As if what happened between us might demolish as much as unite.
But I couldn't stop.
"Zara…"
I had to pray that whatever precious part of me was lost to her would come back. That whatever I gave, would be returned.
"Zara!"
That however she might threaten to destroy me, she would give as much as she gained.
"ZARA—!"
