~ ZARA ~
Ash's heavy brows pinched hard over his nose. With his dark hair hanging around his face and in the dim, late afternoon light under the trees, it made his bright eyes seem to almost glow.
"Zara! I would never—why would you even think—"
"Because you're my father's man, Ash. I know that. And that means that even if I'm not doing the wrong thing, if you think I am or if he thinks I am, I'm screwed."
"Zara, you don't have to worry about what I think. I would never…"
I huffed, I knew the truth. "He owns you, Ash. It's okay. He owns everybody. But don't go accusing me of hiding things when you're the one who'd betray me the second he ordered it."
I took a breath, praying that I'd successfully distracted him from his suspicion about me, so he really could report back to my dad without any thought that I was setting my father up.
