A/N: Short chap because it'd be awkward to add in a Valier POV and have the chap end at an awkward spot, so yeah. But if all goes to plan you should get a chap sometime today or tmrw.
As my blade made it's way towards the soldier's neck, he parried my sword and sent a blow towards my stomach. I was able to maneuver my body out of the way of his blow in time to avoid it completely. The soldier prepared his blade, and began circulating Mana throughout his body to further enhance himself. He then dashed towards me.
His speed was roughly the same as mine, so I was able to react to his blows. He sent a kick towards my stomach, I blocked that blow with my arm and I grabbed onto his leg and threw him into the air. I stomped my foot on the ground, and formed a giant spike that rushed towards him at terrifying speeds. When the spike was only around 10 or 20 centimeters away from him, he lodged his sword into the spike and used it as a foothold, he then jumped towards me.
Using the momentum he gained from his fall to build up force, he prepared an attack aimed at my head which I dodged, or so I thought. I was able to dodge his first attack which was a punch to my head by ducking under. However, that put me right infront of his leg, he then sent a kick right at my face which sent me flying back a few meters as I wasn't able to block the blow in time.
I created a wall of ice behind me to stop me from being sent too far into the enemy's forces.
I heard a voice come from behind me, there was nothing special to note about the voice in all honesty.
"You must've thought that I'd be some regular soldier who you'd kill with ease, you probably though I'd just be some small fry who's life you could snuff out with no effort. Well, it's true that in just a regular soldier, and that I'm a random small fry..."
He then charged towards me at a slightly faster than average pace. As he had no sword in hand, he had to resort to a dagger that he bad found on the floor. He slashed at me a few times, but I slowed down his movements by rapidly cooling the air around me. However, due to my inexperience in actual combat, the stress of the battlefield and my own inability. My shoulder ended up being slashed by the soldier.
"But... even a small fry like me can contribute by killing some inexperienced child who's never suffered the pain of being weak. You don't know what it's like to he powerless and to be taken from, that's why I hate you nobles. You probably think you're out on some school tri-"
The man was promptly cut off by a 5 spike that had emerged from just infront of my foot, it had pierced his chest and lifted him off the ground. His blood poured down the spike and trickled onto my foot. My breathing hastened.
I hated the sight of blood, it made me sick. The air around me began to rapidly cool, and the blood froze. The man struggled to get himself out of the spike, and to his credit, he managed to do so. He forced his rather broken body to crawl over to me. He had a number of injuries due to where the spike had pierced his body, his ribs, stomach and lungs were probably destroyed.
I wanted to puke at that horrid sight, but I stood strong. Valier wouldn't have crumbled to something like this, and he probably wouldn't want his older sister to end up crumbling after killing someone. As the man crawled a bit closer towards me, I saw something fall off his neck. It was an amulet, the amulet broke in half due to the force of it crashing onto the ground. I looked at the amulet and saw a picture of two people, an woman around the age of 30 and a girl who was around my age.
For the first time I made eye contact with the man, however I didn't get a proper look back since he had already died. And in that instant I couldn't move, fear and shock overtook my body. And for a moment, I let my guard down. Then, a blade slashed my stomach and cut right through, I was able to freeze the wound, the blade and the assailant all in one go but it didn't really stop the pain.
I groaned out in pain and pulled away from the assailant before layering more ice on my wound. I looked around to see that there were only less than a hundred or so enemy soldiers. The elite soldiers from the capital had slain the enemy with cruel efficiency.
Claire then appeared beside me and had a look of worry on her face. She handed me a potion which I gratefully took and drank and she healed me. The wound wasn't too deep so she was able to heal it without much effort, especially since I had a potion aiding my recovery. But I'd probably end up with a scar on my stomach. That was fine I suppose, I wasn't too fussed about my physical appearance in the first place.
I sat down with Claire as we watched the elites from the capital massacre the enemy without a shred of mercy. I wanted to throw up at the sight of such horrors, but, I can't break from something like this.
My little sister was vaporised after being tortured and my brothers body was turned into a mangled mess but neither of them stopped fighting. As their older sibling, I can't let myself lose to them.
