With that knowledge in mind, I'd have to alter my plans heavily. I thought that this world would be fairly simular to my old one—a child on a battlefield wouldn't be that uncommon in my previous world— but I failed to realise that It was only an assumption that I made. To a lot of my knights I probably came off as a pitiful and traumatised child who's been life threatening battles when he could've just stayed home.
The maids probably thought of me in a similar way, the nobles probably feared me to a certain extent. I had enough skills in combat and a cold enough heart to go on a killing spree before I went to school. Of course the houses that served us probably thought of me as a capable warrior, but they likely feared me as well.
'I wonder if I should keep this image of being a battle maniac up?'
After all, battle is what I'm built for, my battle IQ is fairly high. Although it's normally higher than it already is. Right now it's limited due to my undeveloped brain, it's still higher than most. And my techniques are second to none, I know every martial art from earth. From more modern karate all the way to the ancient Taekyyon.
Therefore, it wouldn't be too difficult to maintain an image of someone who's a 'fight whore' as some may call it. But it's pretty bad for my reputation, maybe I'll take Lucas' advice and try to improve my reputation?
With that thought In mind, I went down the stairs and met up with Angelica. She stuck with me as I went to greet all the nobles, making sure to memorising etails about the ones that seem to be useful or important. I met some fairly high ranked nobles, Counts, Earls and Marquis all spoke to me in a respectful manner.
I looked around and saw a group children, theyd were the heirs to important families. With that, we realised that we had to get acquainted with them at some point. Me and Angelica sat down at the front of the hall, just bellow the stage. The adults in the way of the stage gently moved to the side.
"Reinhardt, why don't we pose?"
"Pose?"
"Yes! Let's do a mirroring pose, I think it'll look pretty cool."
I nod my head and follow her lead, I tilted my head to the right and leaned my head on fist. Angelica took the same pose, we probably looked pretty imposing. The kids all shuffled forward nervously, but I didn't blame them for being nervous. After all, if a Dragon and an Angel struck a pose together and acted all dramatic, who wouldn't feel a bit uncomfortable?
We spent the next hour greeting nobles, the reason Angelica decided to stay with me was simple. She was trying to help my reputation rise, if the bearer of Angel's bloodline, decided to sit herself next to another person for a full hour and seemed to enjoy herself. Then people would likely start to think that the person who she's with must have a good heart, after all there were stories of Angels residing near those who are pious.
Angels were well, Angels, they were symbols of peace and love and whatnot. She was basically telling everyone in the venue 'HEY, IM WILLING TO HANG OUT WITH THIS GUY. DONT WORRY HE WONT KILL YOU, LOOK AT ME IM PERFECTLY FINE. YOU GUYS SHOULD TALK TO HIM AS WELL.' She was also immensely popular which made children go to her anyways even if they were a bit scared of me.
I did a large majority of the talking, I simply introduced myself, and complimented whatever their family or territory specialised in or wss famous for.
'This has to be one of the most boring things I've ever done. Why couldn't have I been born as a commoner? It would've been much easier to live my life, I'd probably find a reason to live at some point. And if not, I could've just enjoyed a peaceful life, and maybe gotten married? I'm not sure if I'd fulfil my goal and find a reason to live, but I'm sure life would be far more relaxing. But it izzzzz what it izzzz as some may say.'
I looked at one of the maids, or rather 'maids' in truth they were an assassin. A person who from a foreign to survey us, normally they would never be able to get close enough to me to land a solid blow. But during this party, if say, some problems occurred with the lighting then they would get a chance, a chance that would never arise ever again.
After all, in the dark, she could definitely move in on me. I looked at my father who was leaving the room, she must have had her homeland set up something so that Lucas would be forced to leave the hall. Even if it was temporarily.
Her plan was simple, to summarise what I've just said. She made Lucas leave the room, she plans on making the generator fail. And in the split second between, there being darkness and the backup generator activating. She would get to me and hold me hostage, and if the situation worked out for her. She could kill Angelica, with that, the holy Empire would lose its Dragon and its Angel. The thing with Angelica is that she's the only imperial royal aside from Kevin Godhart, the Emperor. Her mother died and she never had any siblings to begin with.
So she was the sole successor of her house similar to me, the only difference is that she isn't replaceable. I am, well it'd be hard to replace my talent but it's not like my dissapearance would affect our house for too long. But, the Godharts embody virtue. Purity is a virtue valued by the church, as such they only have a single partner throughout their lifetime. And the Empress has been long dead, as such, Angelica was guaranteed to be the next leader of the Empire. A double edged sword.
Now, you might be wondering, why would they go for me and not her? It's simple really, from what I can guess, its because of how my bloodline has manifested. During the battle of the brat, yes that's what I'm calling it now, I used something called 'Draconic Intent' it differs from killing intent as it can actually affect someone physically. It can also act as a pressure, normal killing intent only affects the mind. Of course when it comes to children, they can pass out and due to their undeveloped brains, they can suffer physical symptoms.
The thing with Draconic Intent, is that it's mean to be an ability exclusive to actual Dragon's. Of course they don't actually know that I can use Draconic Intent, but a soldier from the Aries House or maybe a maid probably sold information about me to them. As such, they identified me as an unknown variable. The Godharts have displayed their prowess throughout the years, they can be predicted. But I've got a Unique Manifestation, for all they know, I could become an actual Dragon.
Of course, these are assumptions made by both them and me. But, if they have someone who's well versed In war, they would know that its not the most powerful that you should fear. But he who you cannot predict.
