Edward turned so he faced the witch again, one brow cocked. “Pretty big words for such a tiny woman.”

“She knows you’re hiding something behind those fake bookshelves,” Chaos said as she moved to the front corner of Edward’s desk. “She’s also been talking to that fool from the Obsidian Brotherhood obviously. That’s unusual, since the Brotherhood would have put her out of our misery just for being a witch.” Chaos cocked her head a little as she studied Tansy. “I wonder what the connection is. Something has stayed his staff from killing her.”

“I assure you, I’m a lot bigger than I might appear,” Tansy said. “And a lot more powerful. You and your magicians are nothing compared to what my friends and I can do.” Tansy narrowed her eyes a moment. “I’ll bet, however, they have no idea what you’re really doing, do they? Damien doesn’t strike me as a kid who wants to destroy his hometown. What have you told them to make them obey you so blindly?”
