“Let me in!” Carl struggled with the guard, trying to force his way in.
“You took my friend in and accused him of murder. How dare you all?” Carl yelled.
“It’s enough Carl, you’ll get us arrested,” Bella spoke.
“Well, I don’t care,” he shot at her as he struggled to force his way in.
“Let him in,” Jody spoke from behind.
The guard looked at her to confirm her response and she nodded.
Carl yanked his hands off and walked inside, Bella and Chloe following closely behind.
“Hey detective, I’m loo…” Carl stopped mid-sentence as realization dawned on him.
“Wait, wai… Aunt Jody?” Carl called as he stared at the detective in front of him.
“Never expected to see you so soon.” Jody smiled and stroked his cheek playfully.
“You know her?” Bella said to Carl.
“Yes uhm… she’s my mom’s sister.” Carl replied.
“You came with your friends to see me? BTW, how did you know I was around? I mean, I arrived just two days ago and I never put a call across you nor Josephine.”
“Tell her. She might help us out.” Bella whispered to Carl.
“Well uhm… our…”
*
“What? You mean you’re friends with a murderer?” Jody raised her brows at Carl.
They were already seated in her office and Carl had told her everything that happened.
“You don’t get it, aunt. Dylan would never do anything of such. Please you have to help him get out,” Carl pleaded.
“Fine! I will try to help but I need to gather evidences first. I have to be sure that he is innocent in this case, else, he’ll also be killed.”
“What? No, please help him,” Bella pleaded.
“Alright. You guys should be in school or aren’t you having classes today?”
“Not without our friend,” Carl said.
“I’ll handle it. Don’t ever skip classes, okay?”
“First promise me that you’ll look into this case and prove my friend innocent.”
“Do I really have to?”
“Do I really have to go to school?” Carl pouted.
“Okay fine! Pinky promise,” Jody agreed.
“Thank you!” They beamed, smiling happily to each other until a knock interrupted the moment.
“Come in.”
The door opened, revealing her assistant.
“Okay guys, that is my assistant, Adam by name. He is going to be working along with me in this case. Adam, this is my nephew here,” she said, pointing to Carl.
“Wow! Both of you look really alike. Hello, nice meeting you,” Adam greeted.
“And these are his friends.” She pointed to Chloe and Bella.
“Hello,” they exchanged greetings.
“So Adam, coincidentally, the guy in the confession room happens to be their friend.” Jody said.
“Oh really?” Adam raised his brows. “Then we should start investigating right now or what do you think?”
“No Adam, let’s not make it hard for them. They’re students and ought to be in school. We can call them when we need them but not right now. Why are you here anyway?”
“The Hemsworths are here.”
“Oh no! Jane’s parents.” Chloe gasped. “What are we going to tell them?” she asked, looking from Carl to Bella.
