I’ve killed men without a thought, and I’ve stared down a barrel of a gun without flinching, but seeing the woman I love bleeding out in front of me has managed to shake me. As I watch the nurses and doctors roll Bella’s still body to the O.R., all I can do is stand there, regretting every moment of pain I’ve ever caused her. Rubbing my hands across my face, I pull them back and look at them strangely when I see that they’re shaking. Bella’s mumbled words about being drugged gave me pause, so I asked Argent to check Vasilev for a syringe. As soon as Argent handed me the syringe, I gave it to the nurses. It pains me to think about what they might have injected her with. All I know is that as soon as Newl wakes up, I’m going to kill him.
