It's been a day since Rosalie had been kidnapped and she hasn't slept a wink. She had been up all night thinking about the twins and the situation that they were in now. She blamed herself for everything.
"Maybe if I had just listened to Genesis or maybe if I had declined grandpa's offer to come live with him, none of this would be happening, people still would've had their lives."
It was dangerous for Rosalie to be left alone with her thoughts. Sometimes Kamari tried to reassure her that everything was going to be alright and that the twins would find them, but sometimes Rosalie's thoughts would overpower Kamari and block her voice, drowning out her words of comfort and reassurance.
Throughout the night, Rosalie had showered and wore, to her displeasure, some of Mateo's clothes. It reeked of him, which made her sick to her stomach, but she refused to stay naked. She wasn't hungry either and she guaranteed that she would be like that for a while, especially with Cora's dead rotting body that lay right in front of the door with her eyes and mouth open. Rosalie felt creeped out and sometimes felt like she was being watched.
She wanted to go home, but every time she thought about her family back at home, it would shatter her heart and she would begin crying all over again. She felt hopeless and helpless and just wanted to wake up from this nightmare.
…
Knock! Knock!
I flinched awake, not remembering when I had fallen asleep. The knocking continued as I looked around, realizing that I was still in Mateo's room. Tears welled up in my eyes as I thought this was all a dream, but it wasn't, I was still stuck with him in this room with the corpse of his sister that continued staring at me. The knocking stopped before the door opened, revealing someone, a guy from Mateo's inner circle. I couldn't remember his name. He entered the room with a scowl on his face, and a plate and cup in his hands.
"Didn't you hear me knocking on the door?" He asked as I remained silent, earning a scoff before he placed the food on the bed in front of me, "I can't believe Mateo wants you to be his Luna, it's pathetic if you asked me," he said as I watched him turn around before spotting Cora's dead body, "Hm, I was wondering when he was going to kill her, she did get on my nerves, and applause to your mate for killing Blake, I hated his guts," he said as Rosalie's eyes widened at the unexpected news, "Blake's dead?" I asked as he smirked at me from over his shoulder.
"Oh, and she talks," he said as I remained emotionless, "Did he kill him?" I asked as he turned to look at me before folding his arms with an unreadable look in his eyes, "Yes, ripped his head right off his neck," he replied as my eyes widened in shock, "I- he-
I was lost for words as the man smirked at my inability to speak, "You want to know what I think?" He asked, walking closer to the bed as I moved back in fear, "I think that Queensland is cursed, or at least the wanna-be leaders, and it's pathetic, really," he said as I silently looked at him, "Imagine wanting to be Alpha for a clueless woman, a woman who didn't even know she was a wolf, you're repeating history, Rosalie, or should I call you, Aaliyah?" He mocked as tears welled up in my eyes.
"Your mother got away, but you were dumb enough to fall right into their trap, aren't children supposed to make better choices than their parents?" he said, rubbing his chin as he looked up mockingly, "If you're here just to call me stupid then I get it, I know I'm stupid, but they're coming for me," I said as he leaned back before nodding.
"Oh, they're coming alright, but remember, people still and is going to die," he said as I felt myself go pale, "If I were you, I would play my part, destroy the army from the inside," he said as I squinted my eyes at him, "Why are you telling me this?" I asked as I swore I saw guilt and pain flash through his eyes.
"What if I told you that I was a product of a cruel and misunderstanding tragedy," he said as I frowned, "I don't understand," I said as he smiled weakly, "How could you, I believe I was six when my mother was pregnant with you," he said as my eyes widened. My throat began to close in as I felt dizzy.
"That's not true, y-you're lying, my mother would never do that to a baby," I cried as he scoffed, "And why not, is it because she's this saint angel?" He asked as his voice cracked in anger.
"Stop, stop it!" I pleaded as my face became wet with continuous tears, "I'm not asking you to believe me, Rosalie, but all my life I've been told that my mother and father didn't want me, that I was a mistake, a premature baby that was left at the hospital, to only find out that they left to be a family to the new baby that they loved more," he said as a single tear rolled down his face followed by another, while his face remained cold and emotionless.
"Who told you that?" I whispered as he shrugged, "Marcus, he took me and my foster sister in," he replied as my eyes widened in disbelief, "And you believed him?" I asked as he chuckled humorlessly, "At first I did, but throughout the years, Marcus began to get more and more dishonest, his stories changed every time, so I went to the one person who I knew would tell me the truth," he said as my eyes filled back up with tears already knowing who he went by.
"I went to Benjamin and it's funny how the truth always comes into the light," he said as I slowly began to believe him, "Did she? I asked, afraid of his response, "No, she didn't, when I thought she left me for dead, it seems that they told her I was," he said, avoiding my gaze, "I'm sorry," I said as his eyes grew colder as he looked back at me, "I don't need your sympathy, that's not why I told you this, I've already accepted what has happened in my life, and I've already accepted my family, flaws or not," he said as I raised my shoulders, "Then why?" I asked as he looked at me.
"Because every time I look at you, I see her, I feel her, and as much as I want to hate her, I can't, so I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing this for her, eat your food before it gets cold," he said before leaving the room.
My heart shattered as I thought about what he had just told me. All of these years, I had a brother.
…
The family was a wreck knowing that Rosalie was still out there and they couldn't do anything about it. Benjamin hasn't spoken to or seen anyone since yesterday besides Melody, who would bring food up to their room for him, but even then, he didn't speak to her. He was disappointed and angry at himself because he remembered encouraging her to go and now she was gone.
No one has seen Paul, he just disappeared and Giovanni became a bit suspicious, but he tried brushing it off since he needed to be there for his brother, who was taking Rosalie's disappearance a bit rough.
Today, the twins were at Benjamin's house, Genesis wanted to visit their parents' grave. His chest felt heavy and he needed to release some of that heaviness because he felt suffocating. Giovanni watched as his brother broke down into uncontrollable sobs as he kneeled in front of their parents' grave. They needed to find Rosalie and fast, otherwise, it would drive them insane.
The conversation between Giovanni and Paul remained between the two as Giovanni didn't want to trigger Genesis off. Lately, Genesis's wolf, Majesty has been out of control and easily angered. Giovanni didn't understand why and could use Benjamin's words of advice, but he was talking to anyone.
Giovanni snapped out of his thoughts as he watched his brother kiss the tombstones of their parents' grave before storming towards the forest. His body language showed that he was angry again causing a sigh to escape from his brother's lips. He needed to speak to Benjamin, because this kind of behavior may lead to terrifying destruction.
…
"If I were you, I would play my part, destroy the army from the inside."
Koa, I remembered, his words were stuck in my head, and although I hesitated, I realized that I couldn't sit like a damsel in distress and wait for the twins to save me, I needed to do something.
A knock on the door was heard as I sat in front of the mirror brushing my hair, "Come in," I said in a soft tone as the door opened, revealing Mateo, who looked at me, "Hello, my love, I see you've gotten comfortable," he said as I remained silent, "I see Koa had brought your food, I hope he wasn't too harsh, my brother could be a bit blunt and have trust issues, but he'll warm up to you," he said, walking towards me as I tensed up before taking a deep breath as I tried to relax.
I placed the brush on the table before looking at him through the mirror as he stood behind me, "I'll be your Luna, only if you spare my family, they're off-limits," I said as he hummed before placing his hands on my shoulders, "That easy, huh, sounds to simple to be true, so tell me something," he said as I looked down, trying to make myself tear up before looking back at him as my eyes shined like a diamond.
"I talked with Koa, and he said that people still and is going to die, and I can't lose anyone else, please, I'll do anything," I cried as he quickly kneeled in front of me before cupping my face, "Hey, shh, I promise that I have no intentions of killing anyone unless they get in my way or take you away from me," he said as my lip trembled, "I'll do anything if it means people get to keep their lives," I said as he smiled, "You don't have to do anything, but be who you were born to be, my Luna," he said as I slowly nodded.
"I-I can try," I whispered as he cooed before petting my hair, "That's all I want you to do," he said before glancing at his rotting sister, "I'm sorry that I made you stay here with my sister's dead body," he said as I continued to stare at him, "It's alright, I learned to ignore it," I said as he frowned down at me, "I'll have someone come and get rid of her and clean the room, in the meantime, would you like a tour of the house?" He asked as my eyes widened in hope, "B-But I thought I couldn't leave the house?" I asked as he sighed before cupping my face, "I'm trying to trust you, so never betray me," he said in a serious tone as I frowned, casting my eyes down.
"Betraying you would be like playing with fire, my family's lives are in your hands, I'd be stupid to betray your trust," I said, looking up into his eyes as he smiled, "Good girl," he said as I smiled weakly before standing up with his help.
"Thank you, Alpha," I whispered before pulling him to do something that disgusted me to my core.
I kissed him.
