Capítulo 32: xxxii

Walking aimlessly in the middle of the forest, Paul's body weakly stumbled around as tears streamed down his face. He needed to get out of there. He couldn't stay there watching, knowing his grandfather's fate. It broke his heart. It broke his heart because although his grandfather was known to be this terrible man, he still took them in, and gave them a home, food, and clothes. He couldn't fully hate his grandfather, but he couldn't forgive him either.

Now his grandfather was gone and his sister was still missing. Paul felt truly alone. He knew that Giovanni and the others were looking for him, but he didn't have the strength to face them; he couldn't handle their looks of pity.

Wiping his face as he looked around, Paul realized that he was in the middle of nowhere until he caught a familiar scent. His eyes lit up as he stumbled over his feet, trying to rush to the person that he's been so desperate to find. A smile appeared on his face as he came closer and closer to the scent, "Cleo? Where have you be-

All the color drained from Paul's face as he fell to his knees. His eyes filled rapidly with tears as his mouth gaped and eyebrows furrowed. He felt nauseous as he stared at the dead naked body of his sister that hung from a tree. Paul cried out as he continued to stare at his sister, whose soulless eyes stared back at him. His loud sobs filled the forest.

This was not what he expected when he had caught his sister's scent. She wasn't supposed to be dead; he expected her to be asleep or captured somewhere waiting for him. Maybe he came too late; maybe he took too long because now she was dead and he couldn't do anything about it.

Crying as he frustratedly ran his hand through his hair. Paul tried to figure out where everything went wrong until he remembered Mateo's words.

"Indeed they will be dying."

Those familiar words angered Paul as he stood up, wiping his tears before walking towards his sister's dead body. He looked around, trying to find where the rope was tied, and as he followed its length, he saw that it was tied to the roots that were sticking out of the ground of another tree.

More tears filled Paul's eyes as he imagined the type of suffering that his sister had gone through. Untying the rope, he slowly lowered his sister's body until she was lying on the ground. Her body was covered in bruises and dry blood, which were seen on her inner thighs. Paul felt disgusted. This was Cleo, his sweet Cleo, the one who he swore he would protect.

And now she, too, is gone.

After Mateo's appearance on the market, things weren't the same and people weren't the same. The market was no longer busy as people grew terrified about getting in the new Alpha's way. Very few made an appearance; it was almost like a ghost town. There were no interactions, no children's laughter, no smiles, and no spirit that made Queensland what it was.

Everyone silently shopped for their items, or at least what was available since some vendors had abandoned their stalls as they avoided the place that no longer felt safe. All of a sudden, everyone's attention was pulled toward the emotionless man that walked through the market with a naked body in his arms. Everyone's eyes widened as they recognized the man to be Paul and the body in his arms was Cleo, his missing sister.

It was obvious that Paul was carrying Cleo's dead body; everyone saw the rope hanging from around her neck and bruises on her body. Paul walked, ignoring everyone's stares before he stopped in front of his grandfather's corpse. Paul wanted to send a message to Mateo; he wanted him to know that he was coming. Looking back at his sister's face, Paul kissed her forehead before gently laying her body beside their grandfather.

Stepping back as he wiped the tears that rolled down his face, Paul looked around before glimpsing at a can of gasoline. Swallowing forcefully, Paul walked towards the tent where the can was, causing the owner to step back as he watched Paul come towards him and take the can. The smell of gasoline filled the air as Paul poured the liquid on his sister and grandfather's bodies, and once they were drenched in it, he tossed the can aside before pulling out a lighter.

The sight of the flame caused tears to well back up in Paul's eyes as his jaw clenched, "I promise that after this I'll join you on the other side," he mumbled before dropping the lighter as the fire ignited, and just like that, he walked away with the only thing on his mind.

Revenge

By now, everyone had heard about the discovery of Cleo's body, and as the word spread, it wasn't long until Mateo got a hold of the news and made his way down to the market. By the time Mateo and his inner circle had reached, there was a crowd that parted ways for their Alpha. Mateo had stood in front of the bodies that were burnt to an unrecognizable state.

Everyone suspected that Mateo had something to do with Cleo's death, since she also took part in the killing of his father and he killed Atticus. But Mateo knew he didn't, especially since Paul had threatened to kill his sister in return. But although Mateo had nothing to do with the young girl's death, he wasn't quite sure about the members of his inner circle, and if that was the case, then they had put his sister's life at risk.

Mateo's blood began to blood in anger, and he looked around at his group that stood in front of the ashes. Mateo noticed Blake starting with this mischievous look in his eyes and a devilish smirk on his face. It angered Mateo even more than he already was. Blake was always the reckless one, and he didn't understand why his father didn't kill him after he had killed the twins' father.

Stomping towards the smug wolf, Mateo grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him closer to his mouth as he gritted through his teeth, "What did you do?" He asked as Blake glared down at the floor, "Nothing that she didn't want," he replied as Mateo growled, "You pathetic fool, because of you, that maniac might come for my sister, and if anything happens to her, I will make sure to personally deliver you to the twins, to feed their desires of killing you," he said as Blake's jaw clenched.

"Nothing will happen to Cora," he said as Mateo stepped away from him, "And make sure it doesn't."

After leaving the market, Paul went to Benjamin's house. He needed to say goodbye, knowing that whatever he was about to do, wasn't a guarantee that he would walk out alive, but he wasn't scared. He promised the sister that he would join her right after he had Avenged her death, and that's exactly what he was going to do.

"Oh Paul, we were worried sick, are you alright?" Melody asked as she opened the door to find Paul looking down before she pulled him into her arms, "Hey Mel, is everyone here?" He asked as she pulled away before nodding, "Yes, they're inside, come on in," she said, stepping aside as he entered the house, "Hey, guys, Paul is here," Melody calls out as footsteps are heard coming down the stairs, "Hey buddy?" Giovanni greeted him, while he, Genesis, and Rosalie entered the living room, where Melody and Benjamin were relaxing.

"Glad to see that you're alright," Genesis said as they all took a seat on the couch, "I found her," Paul said, looking up from his hands as Melody smiled, "That's great Paul, where is she?" She asked as Paul remains silent while Rosalie stared at him, "She's dead, isn't," Rosalie asked as Melody gasped and Paul nodded his head, "I found her in the forest, hanging from a tree by her neck, naked, they did that to her," he said as his voice cracks and tears streamed down his face.

"And you're going after him, aren't you?" Giovanni asked as Paul wiped his face, "I warned Mateo, that if something happens to my sister because of him, tit for tat, a sister for a sister," he replied as Rosalie frowned, "If you've already warned Mateo and your sister is dead, then he's expecting you to do something, what makes you think that you're going be successful?" She asked as Paul's eyes darkened, "Because I promised, and if avenging my sister's death gets me killed, then I'll die doing so. I just came to say goodbye," he said as tears welled up in Melody's eyes.

Genesis shook his head in disagreement, "We're coming with you," he said as Rosalie turned to him with widened eyes, "No you're not, none of you are, this is a trap and none of you are going to walk out alive," she said as Paul shook his head, "I don't care what you say and they don't have to come with me, that's not why I came here," Paul said before standing up as Giovanni stood up with him.

"Genesis is right, you're not going alone, if it was Rosalie who had died because of Mateo, nothing was going to stop us from avenging her death," he said as Rosalie's eyes softened while Paul nodded, "Thank you," he said as Giovanni nodded before Rosalie stood up, "Then I'm coming too," she said as Genesis grabbed her arm.

"You're staying here, where it's safe," he said as Rosalie frowned, "I'm not going to stay here knowing that you're-

"My word is final," he growled as Rosalie immediately submitted before glaring into his eyes.

"Fine, but if you die, I'll never forgive you."
