"Lux, is that you?" Asked the silver-haired girl while holding her wide-brim hat with a conical crown slightly tilted to the side.
"Yes, it is me, Aysha. You need to stop having this reaction every time I call you." He sighed as he held his right hand to his temple.
"But, you know, this is an incredible invention. I can see and talk to you from afar!" She exclaimed with excitement. "Did you call the others as well?" She continued, not leaving him any time to answer back to her.
"Yes, yes. I called Kira, Ewan and Keat." He answered as three other screens appeared in the air, showing the figures of his three friends.
"Hello, Lu~." Said Kira with a broad smile on her face as she waved at him through the screen.
"Hey, bro." Said Ewan as he could be seen relaxedly killing some monsters while he made his way to Yria, the capital of the kingdom of Dresea, where Lux was currently building his adventurer's guild.
"What's up?" Asked the lancer of their now-disbanded party. Lux could see him walking in the capital as he spoke.
"I was calling to ask how long it would take you to arrive? Everything is ready. I even got requests from the king and the nobles for the people who would come to register.
"Oh? Did you get many missions for the guild?" Asked Ewan as he turned his attention to the screen, now that the monsters were all killed.
"Yeah, the king was pumped at the idea and went all out, having some of his ministers prepare tasks for the guild. After all, while the final goal of the guild is to help the civilians and explorers make money while working, there will be a few who doesn't like to fight and will be happy with tasks such as collecting herbs near the city. The king even posted some full-time jobs to help the civilians and improve the city for cleaning the streets and construction, for example.
However, the nobles aren't as interested in it. They sent some missions since the king did. However, you know how they are. As long as they don't see a visible benefit, they won't be very interested in it." He answered while shaking his head with a weak smile.
"Well, it's fine. Once it starts to pick up, those stuck-up nobles will start sending requests in." Answered Aysha as she butted in the conversation. "However, more importantly, Lux! Did you prepare the medical bay for me?" She asked in excitement.
"Yes, everything is ready. I'm only waiting for you four." Replied the brown-haired young man as he looked at the crystals showing the whole guild. "I'll also have to get some workers for the guild. However, I'll only start recruiting once we're officially open." He explained as he looked at the tasks list he had made.
"Well, I'll be there in five." Said Keat as Lux could recognize the street.
"Same here. I'll teleport over." Answered the green-haired elven woman whose pointed ears moved as she started to recite her incantation.
"Well, I'm at ten minutes from the capital, bro. But, I'll run. I should be there in a minute." He shouted as he speeded up to the point the surroundings became a blur.
"Hehe, I'd say I'll be here soon, but, hehe~." Started the healer of the disbanded party before being interrupted by the caller.
"You're lost, aren't you?" Said Lux continuing her sentence for her.
"I'm not lost. It's just that the road I was supposed to turn right to still hasn't appeared." She answered while blushing slightly.
The rest of the group sighed as everyone knew how bad her sense of direction was.
"Sigh, Hazel can you show her the road, please?" Said Lux in the air as he knew Hazel was always ready to help him.
"Yes, master. I shall do it." Said the adventurer's system in a womanly voice as he had created her as such.
"Thanks, Hazel. Can you tell me how long it would take her to arrive here?" He asked desperately. One would never know where she ended up once she got lost.
"It will take her twenty minutes if she follows the road I gave her." She answered before continuing. "I shall keep an eye on her to make sure she follows the proper route."
"Perfect." He nodded with a smile as he got up and travelled to the first floor of the guild building with the screen following him as he knew Ewan was arriving.
*Bam*. "Haha, bro, I see you're still as strong as before. Well, I guess that's why you are called 'The Ultimate.'" Laughed the man as he gave him a manly hug.
"You're still the same, huh, Ewan." He sighed Lux as he had known the man for over ten years, and he had always been the same.
"Well, of course! Hahaha!" He laughed before being hit behind the head by Keat, who was getting irritated by his laugh despite just arriving.
"Lux, it's been a while." He smiled as he gave him a brotherly hug as well.
"Yeah, almost a year, huh."
"There was a demonic beast horde after three newly upgraded middle-graded dungeons coughed out its monsters once after another while levelling up before creating stronger ones. I've been fighting the horde and clearing those three for the last six months. It was a pain." He shook his head regretfully. "The worse of all was that the reason the dungeons could upgrade to middle-grade with no one knowing was that the scouts of the city thought it was a good idea to skip their scouting since nothing happened in the last five years. At least that's the official story." Continued the man as he was exhausted after the non-stop combat.
"And I guess that the scout was the same for the last six or seven years if the three managed to upgrade to middle-grade with no one the wiser." Continued Lux for his friend. It wasn't the first time such a thing happened, but it was always sad that thousands died because a few people couldn't do their job correctly.
"Ten years. A noble family used the dungeons for farming for resources in the dungeon to enrich themselves. As you know, dungeon resources will eventually reappear after someone collects them. So, he thought it was a great idea. It turns out the scout was on their pay, and the nobles would always send people in the dungeon to collect resources." He said as the three walked up to the second floor to get some drinks.
"And with the number of people who died in the dungeon over the years due to the monsters, the dungeon went from the lowest rank to low rank, which the noble thought he could still control to middle-rank where all hell broke loose." He finished his tale with another sigh as he drowned his sorrow and tiredness in the alcohol.
"What happened to them?" Asked Ewan as he turned severe after hearing what happened.
"The noble family members were executed except for their daughter of six years old who wasn't aware of anything. In addition to the noble family, the king executed a group of twenty scouts and a group of soldiers who were aware and actively participated in this operation. The king made them a model of what would happen to those who broke the royal edict." Answered the lancer of the team.
According to the royal proclamation of the Dresea kingdom, one must report any dungeons to the country along with their current level. People were allowed to farm the lowest-rank dungeons as long as there was a strong mage or knight in town. At low-rank, however, the mandate dictated that an army had to be present in the closest city in case of a dungeon break, and at middle-rank and higher, soldiers and explorers must destroy the dungeon on sight.
"Hello, Kira." Said Lux without turning his head as he felt the movement of the spatial energy around him.
"Hello Lux, I see that you're as perceptual as always." She smiled while giving him a quick hug around the neck since he was sitting and taking a chair to sit next to him. "So, what were you talking about?" She asked curiously.
"About the triple dungeon break and the monster wave, Keat had to clear in Pora due to some stupid noble family." He answered as he turned towards the beautiful and youthful elven woman. "What about you? What have you been doing since we disbanded?"
"Nothing as great as Keat. I only took care of two low-rank dungeons since the army couldn't move to protect the residents of the nearby city." She explained, shaking her head with a smile.
"I'd gladly trade with you." He sighed before taking another gulp from the bottle of wine.
"You want anything to drink?" Asked the young man to the elven woman.
"I'll take orange juice." She smiled as Lux got up and took a bottle of juice from behind the counter. "I always have a few for you." He teased as he gave her the bottle of her desired juice before sitting back down.
"So, I guess we only need to wait for Aysha. Where is she, Hazel?"
"If she follows the road as shown without getting lost, she'll arrive in twenty minutes." Answered the voice of Hazel from one of the communication crystals, which allowed Hazel to communicate orally.
"Wait, ten minutes ago, she was twenty minutes away." Said Lux while understanding that she was getting lost even with a map. "Kira, can you teleport her here, please?" He asked tiredly while the other two snickered at how bad her sense of direction was.
