Capítulo 7: 7. I'm Happy Too
"Hey, guys! I just spied on Class One, and Kimhan's injured!" Our classmate, who was a spy, came running in, out of breath. My heart sank, and I quickly asked,
"What happened to Kimhan?!"
"They were practicing a fight scene and had an accident."
"Where is he now?!"
"He's still in the classroom."
Hearing that, I bolted from my class and sprinted to Class One.
"Kimhan!" I burst into the room, seeing him sitting at the front, touching his eyebrow near his temple, surrounded by classmates. I rushed over, knocking things and people aside, and grabbed his face to examine it closely.
"Are you okay? You idiot! Can't you practice without going overboard? Do you have to die for real?" I yelled at the guy holding a sword.
"I'm fine. He just swung his sword and broke my glasses, and I couldn't see, so I hit the table edge," Kimhan explained.
"Jeez, that's all? Just put on your spare glasses and problem solved," I said, relieved.
"I can't."
"Why not? Did you forget them?"
No way. Kimhan, of all people, forgetting something? Not likely.
He shook his head.
"No, they're under your foot."
"Huh?"
I looked down to see something crushed under my shoe. I laughed awkwardly, sweating as the eyes of everyone in Class One bore into me with blame.
I'd messed up again...
"Sorryyyyyyy."
That evening, I walked with Kimhan after school, since I had to take him to get new glasses after breaking his.
"Don't stray too far; I can't see," Kimhan pulled me closer. We walked quietly, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I stole glances at him as he squinted at the blurry world. His only weakness was his eyesight. It was good he couldn't see my face now because I couldn't stop smiling.
We finally talked again!
Suddenly, Kimhan's lips curled up a bit.
"Why are you smiling?" I asked, worried he might have seen me grinning like an idiot.
"It's just... You ran to me."
"So?"
"I'm really... happy," he said simply. Even though he showed little emotion, I knew he was genuinely happy, and so was I.
Why was my heart acting this way? This strange yet delightful feeling of embarrassment wasn't something I hated at all. In fact, I wanted time to stop right here, so we could keep walking together like this...
"Hey."
"Hm?"
"Are we almost there?"
"Oh!"
Crap, I was so lost in the moment I hadn't paid attention to where we were going.
Where the heck are we?
"Don't tell me... you got us lost..."
"Heh, sorry," I confessed sheepishly.
"Kanthee!!" Wham!!!
