Capítulo 40: Chapter 40: Push Comes to Shove

Angela POV

I’m out of my chair and racing to the mansion. Maverick informed me this morning that Cayden would be sleeping in because of prurient activities he participated in last night. I mocked gagging as he laughed and walked out of my office, but it was about time.

However, when Cayden called me, barely able to speak, any happiness brought to my morning quickly quelled. Something was wrong, and I needed to be there for him this time.

I arrive at the mansion in minutes, bursting through the door and rushing up the stairs to Maverick’s room. When I don’t find him there, my next stop is Cayden’s.

When I open the door, I’m assaulted by the scent of flowers, but I spot Cayden’s arm peeking out from the edge of his bed.

Rushing over, I find him lying face first on the ground, his blazer soaked with the water spilled from what I assume is a broken vase from the flowers all over the floor.

I don’t stop to think, but I kneel to check his pulse. Beating, at least.
