"In the academy, you were probably coddled and given your own rooms with a ton of different comforts. Here is different. Far different. You have two types of bedroom on this ship for crew and military. Battalion rooms house hundreds, and platoon rooms house dozens. Since you're from the academy you'll have a platoon room to your platoon, as opposed to you being put with other soldiers," the woman who had been closest to Kaya explained aboard Kaya's flagship, the Angel's Heart.

"We have to share one room? All fifty of us?" one of the girls from Althea's squad asked in a shocked tone. "What about our privacy?"

In response, the woman pulled a curtain around one of the beds in the room to demonstrate the amount of privacy they could expect. This act silenced the complaints, as the platoon realised there was no way to change the conditions that they found themselves in.
