“You want me to do what?” I asked, incredulously.
“We just need to know that you’re on the side of the werewolves and not the vampires,” he explained.
“You want me to swear loyalty to a werewolves that hate me, Werewolves that would pick a fight with me for nothing more than being a hybrid? You must be out of your mind,” I said, my voice rising in anger.
The Elders started to raise their voices in anger but Elder Jacob raised his hand to silence them quickly.
“She’s right,” Elder Jacob said, his eyes softening as he looked at me.
“If I may,” Elder Freres spoke up, stepping forward from the others to approach. With Elder Jacob’s nod of approval, she strolled up to me.
“The pack hasn’t been good to you. And we know that everything you’ve done so far has been to defend yourself. You have proven yourself in more ways than one. We just need to know that you would choose us over the vampires if it came down to it,” she said, her words surprising me.
