Capítulo 68: Will Domination IV

It had been a dream of his to move things with his mind, at least in the last five minutes.

So, one could expect the smile on his face as he reformed the crystal shards into double-winded blades that sawed through every root that broke through the ground, sending gravel and splintered wood around the clearing.

"C'mon! I told you what I'm going to do."

He didn't forget the projectiles launching from above as he twisted his wrist and sent one blade to clash against the crystalline onslaught, sending glittering pieces of glass around him.

He moved swiftly, rushing towards her with an intent to rip her apart. He had created four saw-blades during the initial clash, one for the shards, two for the root and another one just in case the other three failed to do their job.

The mental strain of controlling four large objects caused every pore in his body to excrete cold sweat, maintaining just enough bodily water to function on the battlefield.

The saw-blade tore through the air, nearly hitting Charlotte, but she had clearly expected this attack as yet another undead manservant broke through the ground like a rotting mole and blocked the blade with its massive body.

"Really? Another Lurch motherfucker?" Irwin scoffed as he punched the air causing the other three saw-blades to swipe away from their current position and attack Charlotte.

Two of the saw-blades went upwards on a parabolic curve, aiming to flank her unguarded sides. The third blade beheaded the undead manservant, releasing the fourth blade in its clutches.

Charlotte gazed briefly at the incoming blades, not caring one bit for her summoned ally as she opened her mouth and released a dark, cloudy smog that quickly took the form of a large embryonic figure.

He seemed to have lost control of the saw-blades as the figure cried out like a newborn infant, ramming itself into the path of the blades. Irwin felt his connection to the saw-blades became dimmer until he no longer felt the drain on his energies.

The smog-bound behemoth of an infant continued to cry out, much to Irwin's pity and frustration. The siren's pull of his paternal instinct causing him to hesitate on his attacks.

With no choice, he concentrated on his hands and willed forth a hex bag containing the ingredients for the Mind Guardian as he used the remaining saw-blades to parry the onslaught of shards and roots.

"Daingnich d' inntinn, Daingnich d' inntinn…"

Green energy coated his head as he dismissed the cry for help, opting to, instead, tear apart the infant by summoning a flaming whip.

"Flagello!"

He pulled the saw-blades away from their defensive position and began disassembling them in front of his enemy.

What followed next was a dream come true for Irwin, though this time, the dream had been within him for decades.

The shards first formed into one centimeter flat strips with hooked ends that formed into cuffed linked armor; then came shin guards, wrist bands, ankle protectors, and a waistband all made of the crystallized materials.

It took no less than five seconds before Irwin had made a full suit of glimmering armor out of the crystal shards. Hard enough to withstand metal and stone, but without the accompanying brittleness thanks to the enhancement brought upon by his magik and stamina.

He wrapped the flaming whip around his glass-coated right arm, slowly melting the recently formed limbic armor. Still, he rushed forward, moving the shards around his body whenever a crystal blade or tree root hit his clear armor.

He twisted his left foot, rolling to the right and evaded yet another undead manservant. His left arm formed a sharply pointed tip as he leaped forward and stabbed the manservant in the neck, widening the tip before pulling the whole blade back and beheading the manservant.

He exhaled, lungs grasping at the edges of exhaustion. Even though they were in a mental realm and formed only by thoughts, he still felt the burning in his chest and agonizing pain of every muscle in his body.

Charlotte, seeing that he had gotten much closer that she thought possible, unleashed the full extent of her magical repertoire in a language that Irwin could neither parse nor understand.

"Terka nun… Tertipapako… Terlu nun… Terkuinapoko…"

As if responding to her words, the ground shook with great intensity; the trees woke up from their deep slumber as their roots broke through the ground, and the sky cried tears of agony that burdened the ground with so much acid that craters formed pits and pools of foamy water.

Irwin tore off a part of his leg armor to create a stand to steady his body against the ravaging of the mental plane. He briefly sensed his magical power, noting down that he had only a fifth of his reserves before rushing forward to her direction.

As he neared her form, a peal of lightning tore apart the dark sky and struck Irwin's rushing form, but before it could do any heavy damage, his glass armor broke off and formed a curved shield that hovered a foot above him.

Although it mitigated much of the electricity, some still forced through as the shield broke, hitting his unarmored skin. He gritted through the pain, numbed to the sensation of agony and used it as a wake-up call to push his speed to the limits.

He was nearly inside of her melee range when the ground broke and another manservant popped out of the soil. It was quickly dealt with by removing his left glass pauldron, throwing it at the undead's head and quickly reassembling its end to form a four-pronged hook that tore apart its head like a watermelon in a microwave.

With Charlotte within his reach, Irwin cocked back his right arm as he used the last of his magik to intensify the flames engulfing his arm, creating a molting blob of magical glass before unleashing a full-powered punch.

"Crimson Sculpture!"

It was on instinct that the words came out of his mouth as if the magic that created the attack had a mind of its own and wanted someone to name itself.

The world came to a crawl as Irwin's right fist met with Charlotte's chest, caving the cavity at the slightest touch. Then came molten glass, removing itself from his blackened arm like liquid plaster that quickly coated the front of Charlotte's body.

The glass seeped into every orifice of her body, quickly filling her with an orange glow. It hardened at a rate not even Irwin could have imagined as Charlotte's flesh turned to glass, her magik cut off from the world as her hovering form fell from her sky and crashed down the ground.

Her crystalline form soon touched the ground and broke into a million pieces and, with it, her hopes of being free from her captivity.

Irwin landed on the empty ground. He saw no peals of thunder, shards of glass, foamy puddles, and no dead trees, either. The only thing around him was a tree, full of life and green as the wonderland prairie.

The verdant leaves soon turned yellow before falling off its branches, the trunk that was once mighty and exuberant shriveled down until it's even barely considered a tree.

He smiled. The physical exhaustion, though he recognized as part of the mental realm, nearly broke down his body.

But it was all worth it, he thought as darkness welcomed him in its stiff embrace.
