The next day
Jun and his aunt was sitting in Mr.Psychic house while Mr.Psychic explain his plan for Beldum training.
"Your Beldum stats heavily favored its Defense and Sp. Defense. so it's important to focus on these stats when training first. Resistance and agility training can help with this, so you can include exercises like ladder drills or cone drills to make it more evasive and harder to hit. You can also practice levitation with Beldum by having it lift objects repeatedly to improve its psychic abilities and control. This will help improve Beldum's control over its psychic powers, allowing it to use them more effectively in battle."
Jun nodded contemplatively.
Mr.Psychic continued, "For the next two days, you will come to here and train Beldum directly and I will observed you progress"
"I understand" Jun nodded
For the next two days, Jun will train with Eevee in the open training field within his aunt house community in the morning and train with his Beldum in the noon.
*SWOOSH*
With the approaching tree trunks, Jun could clearly feel that the little guy flinched. To avoid hitting a tree trunk, Eevee subconsciously dodged left and slowed down, giving itself enough time to judge before another tree trunk approached. Jun believes that this is good training to improve Eevee's [Anticipation] ability, which helps it predict and prepare for incoming attacks. He closed Eevee's eyes with a strip of cloth and let it predict where and when the tree trunks would hit.
*BANG*
Finally, Eevee was like a patty sticking on the tree trunk. As it slowly fell to the ground, Eevee almost cried out in pain and immediately looked back with tear-filled eyes cause Jun panicked and ran to get medicine for Eevee.
He was now a little uneasy to let Eevee battle. Now it was like this when hitting the trunk, if it is hit by Flamethrower or Thunderbolt, wouldn't it kill little Eevee?
No wonder many people say that Eevee isn't cut out for battles and is better suited as a companion Pokemon. It's also no wonder people not many have bothered to explore Eevee's evolution possibilities. For new trainers who choose a gentle and docile Pokemon like Eevee, their journey will undoubtedly be extremely challenging right from the start.
"Alright, alright, don't worry. It will heal later. Don't cry. Here's your Moomoo milk," Jun coaxed his little Eevee and hurriedly served its favorite drink to this little master.
Jun didn't rush to heal Eevee. First, he needed to help his Eevee get accustomed to the pain. If he wanted Eevee to overcome some of its psychological factors, he would need to let it overcome itself by experiencing hardship and tiredness first.
After done training with Eevee all the morning, Jun soon arrived at Mr.Psychic house.
"Boom~!"
As always, Beldum muffled sound was heard the moment it seeing Jun.
"How are you, Beldum?" Jun asked.
"Bel~Bel!"
Beldum happily circled around Jun and made a telepathic sound that only Jun could hear.
"Alright, Let's do our final training today" Mr.Psychic clap his hand to get their attention and announced.
"Yes teacher" Jun replied
Jun instructed Beldum to use its psychic powers to lift and move objects of increasing weight, gradually building its strength and control. He then instructed Beldum to levitate a trunk of a tree and hit a moving target. What is the moving target? Of course it's a little Eevee! It was like killing two birds with one stone.
Eevee: (* ̄︿ ̄)
Jun then set up an obstacle course for Beldum to navigate, testing its speed, balance, and coordination. The final part of their training involved battle simulations, where Eevee and Beldum would practice battling against each other in order to improve their combat skills.
Jun was satisfied with their progress. He look at both of their data:
[Eevee]
[Type: NORMAL]
[Gender: Male]
[Species: Evolution Pokemon *Mutation*]
[Potential: Champion]
[Abilities: Adaptability, *Anticipation*]
[Level: 21 [89/100] (Adult)
[Moves: [E] Double Kick, [E] Mud Slap, Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift]
[+ Tap for breed scheme]
---------------------------
[Beldum]
[Type: Steel Psychic]
[Gender: -]
[Species: Iron Ball Pokemon [Shiny]]
[Potential: Elite]
[Abilities: Clear Body, [Light Metal]]
[Level: 14 [89/100] (Rookie)
[Moves: Tackle, (TM) Zen Headbutt, (TM) Iron Defense, (TM) Iron Head]
[+ Tap for breed scheme]
'Hmm.. Nice, Eevee already level 21 and got Quick Attack, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift while Beldum already level 14 with Zen Headbutt, Iron Defense, Iron Head' Jun nodded
There was one thing that Jun realized after training with Eevee and Beldum: reality and the game were two different things.
Abilities and moves were definitely not as rigid and monotonous as they were in the game. One had to consider many factors, such as a Pokemon's personality, willpower, body and mental condition. Furthermore, the concept of abilities was still vague for most ordinary trainers. Only professional trainers, scholars, or Pokemon watcher had the energy to study a Pokemon's special abilities beyond its moves.
Jun was fortunate enough to have a system that could appraise a Pokémon's data directly. For example, with Eevee's [Anticipation] ability, Jun knew that based on the fact that Eevee's egg move was Detect and its non-hidden ability was [Adaptability], by honing Eevee's sense of danger, there was an 80% probability that it could awaken its [Anticipation] ability.
Here's a corrected version of the paragraph:
Jun thought to himself, "I believe Eevee and Beldum are now ready for a real battle." After considering his options, he went to Mr. Psychic to express his gratitude.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Psychic, for agreeing to train both Beldum and me and for creating a special training program for us," Jun said as he bowed slightly.
Mr. Psychic only waved his hand, indicating that he was okay with it.
"Mr. Psychic, if I may ask, do you know where I can find a battle partner for my Eevee and Beldum?" Jun asked.
"A real battle?" Mr. Psychic thought for a moment before answering. "You can train both of them in a dojo. Saffron City has two dojos for rookie trainers to practice: the Champ Dojo in the south and the Mind's Eye Dojo in the north."
"Ah, a dojo?" Jun nodded before asking, "Is there any difference between these two dojos?"
Mr. Psychic nodded. "Of course. The Champ Dojo trains their Pokemon using discipline training. They believe that in order for Pokemon to grow stronger, they need systematic and repeated training. The Mind's Eye Dojo, on the other hand, focuses on understanding the true meaning of psychic power. Usually, people who want to train their psychic abilities or awaken their psychic potential, train in this dojo."
Jun nodded before Mr. Psychic dropped a bombshell. "Your grandpa is a lecturer in both dojos."
Jun was taken aback by this revelation. "My grandpa? Did he join both dojos?"
Mr. Psychic nodded, then shook his head. "Your grandpa and the dojo owners know each other, and sometimes the owners ask your grandpa to give tips to rookie trainers in their respective dojos. Your grandpa is an elite trainer who can use psychic power, which is why he is qualified to give lectures at the Mind's Eye Dojo. That's also why Alakazam happily agreed to join your grandpa's camp, even though it was originally given to your father."
"So that's how it is," Jun nodded. "Everything makes sense now. Even though Abra joined my father's camp first, because of my father's crossfit workout and my grandfather's psychic power, Abra happily changed camps."
"Hmm...come to think of it, if my grandfather has psychic power, maybe I also have psychic power too?" Jun contemplated.
