Jun tapped the condition tap section.
[Condition: Eevee has been infected by Pokerus genetically]
[Recommendation for cure: None]
Jun was taken aback when he read the name of the sickness: Pokerus. He knew very well what this sickness was. It was caused by a virus, a very rare virus that was actually beneficial to the Pokemon that contracted it. It was said that the odds of encountering a wild Pokemon with this sickness were between 1 in 21,178 and 1 in 21,845, or roughly a 0.004651% chance.
The beneficial thing about Pokerus is that when a Pokemon has it or is cured from it, it gains double the effort values from battling. Every Pokemon will gain an increase in stats from winning a battle, but with Pokerus, the increase is doubled. For example, if a normal Eevee wins a battle and its speed increases from 20 to 30, with Pokerus, its speed will increase from 20 to 40.
This is particularly useful since manipulating this detail would allow trainers to build up their Pokemon's stats incredibly fast without wasting levels. In turn, Pokemon are able to reach their full potential more quickly.
Better yet, infecting a young Pokemon with Pokerus and giving it proper training will result in a much stronger Pokemon than usual since it will have had Pokerus affecting its growth since birth. That alone is more than enough reason for Pokemon infected with Pokerus is the best choice for him now.
But the problem was that there was no cure for it, Jun thought to himself. He remembered that the sickness followed a four-day cycle. If the Eevee could survive, its future would be very bright. But if not, it would just be a memory. Jun looked at the Eevee with a complicated expression in his eyes
In his past life, he had spent a lot of time playing Pokemon games and reading Pokemon fanfics. While reading, he wouldn't necessarily get carried away by the situations in the stories. However, as he looked at the current situation in front of him, it reminded him of the time when he used to take care of his sick younger siblings in the orphanage.
"Eevee, may I know since when has this little Eevee been in this condition?" he asked the Eevee that had brought him here.
"Kyuu, Kyuu," Eevee raised its paw and swung it a few more times.
Jun was confused, and finally, he grabbed a tree branch and drew numbers from 1 to 4.
"Eevee, you choose how many days the condition is," Jun pointed to the numbers.
Eevee then pointed to number 1, meaning it had only been a day.
Now he needed to be careful. He quickly scanned the other Eevees here, but it seemed that none of them were infected with this virus. As he knew, this virus was contagious, but it was fortunate that only this little Eevee was infected. Now, he needed to bring this little Eevee to an isolated place.
'But first, the Pokemon center,' Jun thought. He quickly hugged the little Eevee and explained to the other Eevees that he needed to bring this Eevee to be cured. After getting their consent, he quickly made a run to the Pokemon center. But in the middle of it, he slapped his forehead.
"Crap! I am in the auditorium now. How can I find the Pokemon center here?" Jun scanned his surroundings and his eyes lit up when he saw his aunt.
He quickly ran to his aunt, "Aunt, Aunt, I need your help," Jun screamed to get her attention.
His aunt was startled hearing Jun's anxious voice, thinking he was in trouble. But when she saw he was running with an Eevee in his arms, she was surprised.
"Jun, what happened?" she asked.
"Aunt, this Eevee is sick. Can you help me bring it to the Pokemon center for a cure?"
Aunt Mia slowly crouched and looked at the Eevee. It was basically pale and its body was shaking non-stop. 'Is it a fever?' she thought, wondering if the fever was very bad because it was shaking badly.
"Follow me," she instructed Jun.
Jun quickly followed her and arrived at the Pokemon center branch inside the auditorium. When Jun stepped into the Pokemon center, he was stupefied because he saw what every Pokemon fan knows: Nurse Joy! She had pale skin, large blue eyes, and long pink hair worn in a bun with her nurse's uniform with a red cross on the front and a matching nurse's hat.
Jun and Mia, his aunt, hurriedly went to Nurse Joy and explained everything that had happened.
Nurse Joy smiled and said, "Okay, you two will wait here for a second. I will check your Eevee first."
Jun handed Eevee to Nurse Joy and waited anxiously while his aunt refrained from disturbing him.
Soon, Nurse Joy came out, but her expression was now serious, unlike before. A Chansey followed her, wearing a similar expression. "Sorry, but may I know beforehand if this Eevee is yours? Do you know what happened to it before it became like this?" she asked seriously.
Jun's heart sank upon hearing this. He knew that Pokerus was real, and the cure was still unknown to this day. He shook his head and replied firmly, "No, this Eevee is a wild Pokemon that I planned to tame."
His answer surprised his aunt. 'Eevee as a starter Pokemon?' she thought. While many people choose Eevee as their starter Pokemon due to its cuteness and docile nature, its price is also relatively acceptable for most families so basically Eevee is categorize as side starter pokemon for most people.
But for Jun, who came from an elite family, why choose Eevee? Even if he asked for a champion-level Pokemon or a pseudo-legendary-level Pokemon, his family would give it to him tomorrow.
She was confused and couldn't help but ask, "Jun, are you sure you want this Eevee as your starter Pokemon? Even if you asked for a champion-level Pokemon or a pseudo-legendary-level Pokemon, your family would give it to you tomorrow."
Jun only nodded seriously in response. His aunt hesitated for a moment before giving up on persuading him. Jun looked at his aunt taking a step back and sighed in relief. Little did he know, his aunt had already sent a message to his sister-in-law, Jun's mother, about the situation here.
After thinking for a while, Jun asked carefully, "May I know what happened? Can Eevee be cured?"
Nurse Joy only shook her head slightly. "We know the cause of Eevee's sickness, but all of our medicines and drugs we used dissolved mysteriously before they reached Eevee's antibodies. We think maybe it's a new virus or a mutation of one. We need to confirm it first before clarifying it."
Jun hesitated a little before asking, "Hmm, Nurse Joy, can I help you take care of Eevee? I promise I will not cause trouble, and because it's my starter Pokemon, I think it will be better for me to take care of it first."
"Jun, don't make trouble. Matters like this must be handled by a specialist. Just leave everything to Nurse Joy here," his aunt reprimanded him.
Jun only innocently said, "But aunt, the time for choosing a starter Pokemon is almost over. If I don't get a starter Pokemon now, then I will have to wait to register as a trainer next month. Then I will miss the school competition later."
Aunt Mia was startled and looked at her watch. There were only 15 minutes left for choosing a starter Pokemon. She hesitated a little while looking at Nurse Joy.
Nurse Joy also hesitated, but looking at Jun's innocent face, she finally grabbed her phone and dialed someone. After talking for a while, she said, "Okay, you can accompany Eevee, but you need to sign an agreement first. If something happens to you or Eevee, the Pokemon Center will not take responsibility for it. Second, you two will be placed in an isolation room, and you also must use protective suit. Do you agree?"
Jun was ecstatic when he heard it. The isolation room was basically perfect because he was afraid that if Eevee was placed with other Pokemon while being treated, the virus would spread to other Pokemon as well.
"Yes Ma'am" Jun agreeing
"Jun!!!" His aunt was distressed with her naughty nephew. What happened to him today? Where's his shy and introverted nature from before?
Without giving his aunt a chance to react, he strode over to Nurse Joy and disappeared down the long corridor of the Pokemon Center. His aunt could only ruffle her hair and call Jun's mother to explain everything.
After walking for a while, Jun looked back, and when he saw no sign of his aunt, he sighed with relief and gained a chuckle from Nurse Joy.
"Alright, come here. First, put on this protective suit. Your Eevee is already placed in that room. You only need to go to that room, and if you're hungry or thirsty, there's a small room behind it. Your daily necessities will also be there. Understand?" She asked.
"Yes, ma'am," Jun answered.
Soon, Jun put on the protective suit and entered the room, and he was surprised. "Wow, this is basically like a 5-star hotel. Do I really get to live here for free?"
Nurse Joy was amused. "Of course, you have to pay. Is the Pokemon Center like a charity for you? But a Pokemon case like yours is very rare, and this room is almost never used. I can say that maybe you are the second person to use this room since this Pokemon Center was built."
"So, that's it," Jun acknowledged, not caring about the money. After all, his family was rich, and they could reimburse whatever they wanted.
