Capítulo 12: The Royal Library

Within the atlas, Limon also caught sight of the destination of this excursion, the "Royal Library".

Though the name might convey an air of elegance, this library was, in fact, an ordinary establishment under the patronage of the royal family. It extended a warm welcome to people from all walks of life. Its primary objective was to acquaint the populace with the history of the Taklamakan Kingdom. It also gathered renowned literary works from various nations and a vast amount of knowledge spanning multiple fields.

Limon, eager to understand this world, considered the library an ideal place to visit.

Amid the vast sea of books and the boundless expanse of knowledge, Limon could achieve a more profound understanding of the world.

The Royal Library was located in the northeastern section of the Second Ring Road. It took Limon over an hour to reach his destination.

This building was designed in the shape of a tower, with a square base on the ground floor and a circular dome on top, crowned by a pointed lightning rod.

There was an area outside the library specifically designated for the accommodation of Dudu birds, which undeniably solved a significant problem for the visitors traveling to the library.

After entrusting the Dudu bird to the keeper of the bird stable, Limon hastened to enter the library with great anticipation.

The moment he stepped through the entrance, the library that greeted his eyes evoked within Limon a single overwhelming feeling, that of its enormity, truly vast.

At a casual glance, the hall was filled with bookshelves arranged in an orderly manner, and those bookshelves were laden with countless volumes.

"Five silver coins, no time limit, closing before dusk."

A short distance from the entrance, there stood a counter, and behind it, the librarian, a male elf.

Five silver coins were a negligible amount. Limon dutifully retrieved five silver coins from his pocket.

The librarian, upon receiving the silver coins, also handed Limon an album.

After giving the album to Limon, the librarian ignored him and immersed himself in the perusal of a book with rapt attention.

Do not underestimate this unassuming librarian. Despite his unremarkable appearance, he was a magician of a high level, reaching as high as level 35.

Clutching the album given by the librarian, Limon wandered around the hall.

Due to the earliness of the hour, the library was sparsely populated. A quick glance revealed only a few people in the reading area to the left.

Next to a bookshelf, Limon paused and cast his eyes downward at the album in his hand.

The information inscribed in the album was a schematic of the bookshelves in the hall, with the genres of books meticulously recorded.

"Is it over there?"

Following the directions of the atlas, Limon arrived at a row of bookshelves.

Scanning the volumes on the bookshelf, Limon searched for the books he needed.

One, two, three... and in total, thirteen books were selected. Limon, wearing a satisfied expression, carried the books to the reading area, sat down at a table and chair, and could hardly wait to start reading.

Observing the stack of books beside Limon, the patrons in the reading area cast curious glances in his direction.

Each book was rather thick. Could he possibly read them all?

Limon paid no attention to the inquisitive stares of others and persisted in his reading.

The History of the Avenir Continent, the Race Record of the Avenir Continent, the Monster Record of the Avenir Continent, the History of the True Gods, the Origin Record of the Evil Gods of the Alien Races, the Official History of the Dragon Race...

Perhaps due to his enhanced intelligence attribute, Limon discovered that he had an amazing memory. He could vividly recall the contents of each page with unerring accuracy, as if every detail he saw was firmly engraved in his mind. That feeling was truly extraordinary.

It took Limon over six hours to finish reading more than a dozen books.

By this time, the reading area had become more crowded, the majority being adventurers, searching the library for specific information, with only a few civilians.

"Huh!"

Limon took a deep breath and closed the book.

In a momentary daze, Limon had not yet fully emerged from the deluge of information obtained from the books.

This world was a realm of wonder, yet fraught with danger.

Aliens, evil gods, and magic dragons constantly threatened the very existence of the human race.

And the human race...

From the books, Limon learned about the several main races inhabiting the Elven Continent.

Humans were, of course, humans, but the human race comprised multiple ethnic groups on the Elven Continent.

Humans, elves, elves (Lulufil tribe), Soga giants, raccoons, and dragon people. Long ago, these six major races coexisted on the Elven Continent, each with its own territory and dwelling.

Since the first magic tide, the righteous god emerged. Under the command of the righteous god, the five major races initiated more frequent interactions, and the hitherto independent societies embarked on a path of grand integration. During this process, the second magic tide occurred.

The second magic tide was an era of the ascendancy of the human race, a time of catastrophe, and a period of the decline of the righteous gods. The righteous gods fell one after another into an eternal slumber. The evil gods were born, and the power of darkness corroded the earth, laying waste to all things.

In the conflict with the evil gods, the societies of the various human races began a process of amalgamation and union, living and fighting the evil gods in different corners of the continent.

This also gave rise to the current social structure of the human race.

In the present-day Alvin Continent, regardless of which kingdom one considered, a single race did not dominate, and one could see the figures of different ethnic groups.

Due to the strong characteristics of the bloodlines of each race, with the exception of the elves, all races were capable of intermarriage, and the offspring thus produced would either inherit the blood of the father or the blood of the mother, and there would never be hybrid offspring. In this regard, it effectively accelerated the integration of human society.

What a unique world...

Internally, Limon sighed.

"You have finally finished reading..."

A sweet voice, extremely soft, filled with a gentle and soothing tone, suddenly cut through the air.

Limon raised his gaze slightly and saw a maiden seated opposite him.

She was adorned with long, silver-white hair and pointed, white ears that indicated her identity as a civet cat.

Her golden, sharp pupils looked at him with a tender gaze.

She had a peerlessly beautiful oval face, dazzling in its charm.

In the face of Limon's puzzled expression, she smiled faintly and murmured softly, "Although there are multiple copies of many books in the library, the Origin of the Evil God of Alien Races is a rare and unique volume. There is only one such copy in the entire library."

Limon immediately understood the maiden's meaning.

He glanced at the books scattered on the table and saw the Origin of the Evil God of Alien Races among them.

"Apologies, I didn't notice your arrival..."

If there was only one copy of such a book in the entire library, it was undoubtedly Limon's oversight to have monopolized the resource.

Clutching the Origin of the Evil God of Alien Races, Limon offered it to the maiden opposite.

With a delicate smile, the maiden accepted the book from Limon's hand.

She whispered softly, "There's no need to apologize. When one is captivated by the ocean of knowledge, it is also a manifestation of respect for the book. You were so engrossed in your reading, how could I have the heart to interrupt?"

The maiden's understanding was exactly what Limon had hoped for.

Nodding slightly in acknowledgment to the maiden, Limon began the task of tidying up the disorderly books on the table.

The hour was getting late, and it was time to leave.
