Capítulo 16: The miss

Although unaware of the details, Limon nodded and said, "Please, go on."

Seeing Limon's agreement, Laradoa let out a sigh of relief.

"The situation is like this. Today is the harvest day at the Sandy Fishery. There is a noble lady who pays an annual visit, and this year is no different. However, an unfortunate incident has occurred. I was busy directing the workers in their fishing activities, and she disappeared from sight without my noticing. I thought she was just amusing herself nearby, but alas, I haven't been able to find her. An hour has passed. If any harm comes to her, a thousand deaths wouldn't be enough to make up for my negligence."

Limon could tell that Laradoa was extremely anxious, his nerves on edge and a palpable sense of fear in the air.

Although the identity of the lady remained a mystery, it was clear from Laradoa's eyes that she was of great importance, otherwise he wouldn't have been so troubled.

Instead of rushing off to search right away, Limon asked, "Describe her characteristics, her build, height, weight, and most importantly, her race."

Laradoa quickly replied, "The lady is of the same race as I, a member of the Lulufil tribe. She's a bit shorter than me, of similar build, and has pink hair."

The Lulufil tribe?

In that case, the distinguishing features were quite noticeable.

Limon dismounted from the bird and repeated, "Where was she last seen?"

"Here, this way. Please, follow me."

Accompanied by Limon, Laradoa quickly went to a fence next to the wooden house.

"It was here. When I last saw the young lady, she was watching our fishing activities."

Limon examined the ground...

Although the footprints were a bit messy, as long as the young lady had stayed there, some traces were bound to remain.

Could it be here?

Limon looked northwest.

Glancing down at Laradoa beside him, Limon offered comfort, "Don't worry. I'll surely find her. There are no monsters around. Without any malicious people, she'll be safe."

With a faint sigh, Laradoa fretted, "This is exactly what I'm worried about. The young lady has many enemies. If someone takes advantage of this moment..."

Without further ado, Limon took a step and dashed northwest, his figure quickly disappearing from sight.

Watching Limon's departing figure, Laradoa was filled with worry and murmured softly, "May nothing bad happen, may nothing bad happen..."

Following the faint footprints, Limon made his way northwest.

Although the elven footprints were visible, they were too delicate and small, making tracking a bit difficult.

Fortunately, Limon was lucky and was always able to figure out the right direction and find more prominent traces.

Unconsciously, Limon arrived at the western coast.

The wind blew, and standing on the cliff overlooking the coast, the vast expanse of the sea unfolded before Limon's eyes.

Looking north, the golden port of Arizela City could be seen in the distance.

Not having the time to enjoy the scenery, Limon jumped down from the cliff and searched the beach for traces.

There were no workers around, and few people came here, which greatly helped in finding the young lady's footprints.

She was really running away...

Looking at the series of small footprints on the beach, Limon thought to himself.

This place was several kilometers away from the wooden house. What could have made her come here?

The clear footprints also told Limon that he wasn't far from the young lady.

Looking north, an object at the edge of the forest caught Limon's attention.

It was a ten-meter-high statue. Dressed in a robe and holding a scale, with wealth and weapons adorning each end, symbolizing power and wealth. The scale in the statue's hand was also the emblem of the Taklamakan Kingdom.

The god of trade, "Wali Kru," was the patron of this statue and the deity worshipped by the Taklamakan Kingdom.

Could it be...

As he got closer, as Limon had expected, he saw a small figure under the statue.

She was dressed in gray and wore a gray headscarf, under which a wisp of pink hair was faintly visible.

She clasped her hands tightly to her chest, as if praying.

Finally, she was found...

Seeing her small figure, Limon also let out a sigh of relief, and his expression relaxed.

"Who's there?"

As if she had sensed the footsteps behind her, she turned around and issued a cold reprimand.

Although the voice was a bit cold, it was pleasant to the ear.

When she saw Limon approaching, she was immediately on guard, a questioning look on her small, pretty, and cute face.

At this point, Limon knew exactly what to do.

Without getting too close, Limon stopped less than ten meters away from her.

"I am Limon Darwin, commissioned by Mr. Laradoa to find you and escort you back."

Laradoa?

When she heard Limon mention Laradoa, the expression on her face softened noticeably.

However, she then haughtily waved her hand and said, "I know the way back. Go away."

Limon wasn't going to give in to the young lady's whim and shook his head, saying, "That's not possible. Laradoa is very upset. If you don't come back with me, he'll be really worried."

"No, I want to stay for a while. I'm not a child. I know the way back."

What a stubborn girl...

Seeing the young lady with a determined look on her face, Limon got a splitting headache.

"You... what do you want?"

Seeing Limon approaching step by step, she asked, pretending to be calm.

With a faint smile, Limon walked up to the young lady and looked down at her.

In the face of her cold stare, Limon didn't hesitate and, without saying a word, picked her up and put her over his shoulder.

"Rude fellow, you... put me down."

She wriggled uselessly.

Limon had checked her details. She was just an ordinary person, and the information on her character panel was similar to that of Lalasa.

She was really light, as if he were carrying a mere doll.

"You... you'll regret this."

Seeing Limon's impolite treatment, she was on the verge of crying, her face filled with anger.

Limon just smiled mysteriously at the young lady's threat and said, "Laradoa said you have many enemies. If I left you here and something happened to you, I'd surely regret it. So, whether you like it or not, you have to come with me today. There's no room for negotiation..."

The voice suddenly stopped.

With a furrowed brow, Limon stopped in his tracks and looked around warily.

Limon crouched slightly and put the young lady down from his shoulder.

"You..."

Before she could finish her angry words, she saw the solemn look on Limon's face and fell silent.

Standing up, Limon said to the bewildered young lady in a firm voice, "Step back and stay behind me."
