"Aether, how are your sword training with your instructor going?" Asked my father,
"I'm doing quite well according to him." I replied, stabbing my folk into the meat before guiding it towards my mouth.
The elf…
Rather, Jeanne was standing right behind me, I never really understood why the maids in our house do that, and I never really cared enough to ask.
We were currently having breakfast together in the family dining room, just me, and my parents, with two other morons who happened to be my cousins.
My father, being a royal knight for the king, takes swordsmanship very seriously, and since I'm the heir to the family, he wants me to surpass him.
Little does he know, I can already attain that feat, but I'm not interested in swordsmanship, I'm more of a fist, throwing hand kinda guy.
"Good, I'm sure you wouldn't want to soil the Vermont name." My father spoke,
Silence took over, my mom casually chowing down her food like she had no care in the world, sometimes I wonder what goes on in her head.
"Aether."
"Yes father."
"You'll be accompanying me to Richardson's mansion soon, I'd like you to meet his daughter." My father uttered, cleaning his mouth with the napkin.
"Eh?"
This better not be what I think it is.
"Yesterday we had a discussion about merging your mother's business and his together. To do that, we need to build our relationship even further. When you meet his daughter, you should be prepared to be engaged".
"Aren't I too young to be engaged, father?" I blurted out, a nervous smile hitched on my face.
I mean, it doesn't exactly bother me all that much, but since my father is a noble, getting engaged would mean, I'll start over acting my role as the heir, and if that happens, that would mean less time for me to build my dream cult.
For fuck's sake, I still haven't gotten to build my headquarters yet, if this keeps up, I might not get very far before the academy.
"You are the heir of the family's name, you should get used to it."
With that, my father stood up and walked away from the dining room, his guards following right behind him.
Seems he has made up his mind, all I can do is just go along with it, I don't think it would cause much of an issue right now anyways.
"Thanks for the food." I leaped down from the dining table and slowly began to walk away, and once again, my mother was just quietly eating her breakfast.
Say something, woman!!! Your son is about to get engaged!!!.
.....
It's been hard finding headquarters I can use for my secret base. I've been searching for months, every abandoned spot in Fiona was either roaming with spirits or was already owned by the government.
If I can't find my headquarter, I can't gather members for my cult. The last few days have been extremely difficult, so I decided to take one more look around, but this time, outside Fiona.
Right now, I am in the county of Ragor, it's only a few distance away from the Fiona Kingdom, but it's vastly larger and mostly filled with sovereign lands.
Criminals are lodged there a lot, and there seems to be a few other organizations hanging around too, oh and by the way, I got all this information from Jeanne, she's surprisingly fast.
"Wow, you've really outdone yourself this time Jeanne, seriously, how did you even get to cover this distance? It's surprisingly far, so it might be a problem." I uttered out loud, standing on top of a cliff where I could view the landscape from a higher view point.
"It took me half a day, I never expected Ragor to be this far, I apologize, I'll keep searching for…"
"There's no need."
"Sir?"
"It's an easy fix, we just have to make it so, it's easier and faster to transport ourselves from Ragor to Fiona, other areas are okay to ignore for now."
"How do you plan on doing this?" Jeanne asked.
"Gateway teleportation!".
I instantly stole a glance behind me to see that I caught Jeanne off guard before I immediately focused my view back in front of me, *satisfied*.
Making a gateway transportation is easy for me to do, it's just the same as making portals, only this time, both portals will be connected to one another.
If they are going to be of service to me, then they need to be at my aid as fast as possible, so I'll place one end of the gateway here in Ragnor, and the other somewhere in my house, or some place secluded in Fiona, this way, the people of my cult can move about freely in a short amount of time.
"Lord Aether, I'm not sure I heard you correctly, do you mean to say, you would… make instant teleportation possible?".
Ohhhh, that's what they call it?!.
"Do you doubt me?"
"N-no, of course not, if there's anything I can do to help, then I'll be sure… to…".
Suddenly, I sensed the change in atmosphere, right, we were being watched.
"Jeanne." I called out.
"I can sense them too, do you want me to take care of them?" Jeanne replied to me.
"No, not yet, it's only fair to at least know what they want."
All around me, slowly moving out of the darkness, were bandits, their conniving chuckles filling the air.
They were twenty in number, so I'm guessing they are all together.
I already sensed their presence the moment we arrived, but I didn't act because I expected them to play it right.
Leaping down from the cliffs and taking out Jeanne before they come for me, and then I say something like…
"Oh? You're approaching me?"
Sigh, but these idiots know nothing about foreplay, they all look like clowns trying to surround a lion.
"What are kids doing here? Oh, and it seems like one of them is a demon." One of the bandits spoke as he moved closer.
God! They don't even have uniforms or something, NPCs?.
"Oi! Oi! Doesn't matter, we can just add them to the rest of the demons we captured, take them out, and make it snappy."
As soon as I heard that deep voice I could instantly tell… that was the leader!
Grin!.
