Capítulo 43: Silent Threat

This is a problem. This is a really big problem. I have to stop being so nice. And I really have to stop touching her. 

Before leaving the house, I go down to the kitchen to see if I can catch Ivan there. He's standing in front of the open fridge, staring inside. 

"Maria doesn't even wait to see if we'll be home anymore. She just packs up dinner and leaves early, doesn't she?" He's speaking into the refrigerator, but he must have heard me come in. 

"This is the first time you've been home this early in how long? Why would she bother waiting around?" 

"Well, my pregnant girlfriend is living here now. I would assume she'd make sure she's at least fed first." 

"She's not your pregnant girlfriend." 

That causes him to finally look my way. "As far as Maria is concerned, she is." 

There are so many silent seconds that go by while I'm actively fighting a reply. It's almost painful.
