The state of the world had plummeted into chaos.
Governments worldwide, as well as wealthy individuals, had initiated a frantic hunt for the most promising awakeners. Utilizing their surveillance satellites, the governments closely monitored players and conducted extensive research. Simultaneously, affluent individuals enlisted hackers to exploit government data for the same purposes.
For those who resisted being recruited, intimidation and brutal beatings had become common tactics until they relented. Some unfortunate souls were even coerced into servitude, their abilities enslaved.
"General, we've located another one, situated in Namibia. Should we dispatch a team to retrieve him?" inquired the Japanese government officer.
"Hmm, he seems to hold potential. We must secure him before their government does," mused a woman, her attire leaving little to the imagination. Her ample bosom was evident, likely G-cups.
"We've obtained information on him, General," reported a subordinate.
"Good, hand it over. Davy, no surname. Odd. Twenty-one years old, orphaned at ten when his birth parents passed away, adopted, but later abandoned by his family who relocated abroad. He dropped out of school, leading a reclusive life. This one should be an easy catch. I'll personally handle it; no man can resist me, after all." She radiated supreme confidence in her looks and physique, strutting away with her bosom swaying and hips following the rhythm, a truly remarkable sight.
Without delay, she boarded a plane bound for Namibia.
Meanwhile, Davy's life had taken a different turn. Two months had passed since he saved Suzy, and together, they had been on a relentless hunt for the monsters that had infested their surroundings.
They both experienced substantial growth, evident in their character attributes:
**DAVY: LEVEL: 10, CA: 1,680**
**SUZY: LEVEL: 6, CA: 800**
They had harnessed their powers more effectively and become stronger through their shared experiences.
"Hey, Davy, can we rest for a bit? My back hurts," Suzy requested.
"Hmm, sure. Your wounds keep reopening because you're hunting with me. I admire your courage, but it's reckless to risk your life like that," he responded, his tone filled with concern. He proceeded to remove her shirt to examine the wounds on her back.
"You know, not many boys can casually undress a girl like it's the most normal thing in the world," she admitted, blushing.
"Well, we've been together for a long time, so I don't mind doing this if it's you. I'll heal your wounds quickly," he assured her.
"Thanks, Davy, for coming to save me. If it wasn't for you, I might have died," she expressed her gratitude, a warm smile gracing her face. She thought about broaching the subject of their breakup but hesitated, fearing it might provoke his anger. Instead, she chose to let the past stay behind and focus on starting anew.
"It's nothing. You would have done the same for me, so there's no need to be overly thankful. You've done a lot for me, and I'm just repaying the favor," he replied with an expressionless face. He healed her wounds and affectionately patted her head which made her blush, though he seemed indifferent to her embarrassment.
"Let's go. I need to eliminate that E-rank monster today. I have to level up quickly so we can enter the tower."
"Okay, but why do you want to go into the tower? We don't know what's in there," She voiced her curiosity.
"Let's call it a hunch. I'm certain it's a different world inside," he replied, his determination evident.
He picked up the sword he'd acquired from defeating F-rank monsters. He'd discovered that monsters from F-rank and above dropped items. Using the system's assistance, he'd learned a crafting skill and employed the monster cores he'd gathered to enhance his sword, transforming it into a D-rank weapon. He'd reserved some cores to craft a weapon for her, a task for another time.
They reached the monster's base, a tag team consisting of her taking care of the smaller foes while he faced the E-rank monster known as the "metal snake," its very skin resembling metal.
He dashed toward the beast, sword in hand. He'd grown accustomed to running with one arm and had gained better control over his powers. His blade struck the snake multiple times with his swift movements, but it didn't even leave a scratch.
"Tsk, how annoying," he muttered in frustration.
His irritation grew. He unleashed a wind magic spell he'd learned from Suzy, and it proved somewhat effective. The snake charged at him, and although he managed to evade the initial attack, its tail struck him and sent him hurtling into the building's walls.
"Davy, are you alright?" She asked, concern lacing her voice.
"I'm fine. Don't you dare interfere; this thing is mine."
"Don't worry, I won't. I know you like hunting your prey alone."
"Heh, look at you. You sure learn fast. I'll end this quickly so we can go eat. I'm sure you're hungry."
He infused his sword with wind magic, sharpening its edge and making it deadlier. In a blink, he vanished, reappearing above the snake. Before it could react, its head was severed from its body. He landed and kicked the snake slightly, appearing unsatisfied.
"Tsk, it couldn't even last that long, even though I held back a lot. Hey, System, calculate the overall power output I used," he demanded.
"You used 25% of your power, Master," replied the system in a cheerful tone.
"Che, only a measly 25%, and it died so easily. How am I supposed to grow stronger at this rate? I didn't even level up. I'm so pissed off right now," he grumbled.
"Are you okay, Davy? You don't seem satisfied with the fight," she noted while collecting the items.
"Sigh, it's just that the monster was weaker than expected. Let's go eat something. Aren't you hungry?" He suggested.
"Hehe, I am. Let's have pizza today," she chirped, her excitement evident.
After a long day of hunting, they made their way back to their base. In the midst of it all, Miss General arrived in Namibia . Her ease of entry was due to the government's preoccupation with survival, allowing her to go unnoticed when entering and leaving the country.
She settled into a luxury car and headed toward Davy's location. With a gentle but uneasy smile, she retrieved his file.
"Wait for me, young man. You're all mine."
