"I don't care about status. If she has enough of what I want, I don't care." Felipe smiled as he returned to end his warm milk while punching the tray down the table.
"What that might be?" The Governor asked as he began to laugh as all of them could see the ample chest of Nancy.
"You know she is only 15." Quincy chuckled while taking up the mug.
"…" Felipe said nothing else as he finished his milk.
The room got another guest as John entered the Dinning room, and the two fat pigs immediately stopped laughing.
"Morning, your Majesty… the horses are ready to go. We can leave whenever you want." He said respectfully, with his southern accent amplified.
"That's great." The owner looked at the mug of empty milk, and he just smiled, "I see you met my daughter."
"Lovely girl." Felipe nodded as he cleaned his mouth.
"Aye, she is at that age; people are asking for marriage from all over the country," John said with pride.
"I don't doubt that. Congratulations."
"Thank you."
"Let's go; I am eager to meet your land. I heard it's the most beautiful in South Carolina." Felipe said as he got up.
It was no time before they were outside looking at the horses being held by 2 male slaves by their Reins.
On the back side, they saw slaves moving entire timber logs.
"Construction?" The Governor asked.
"Aye, the stables on the back, such salves made the entrance too narrow between stables… Horses cant move through it without bodying the slaves up… too inefficient… I am having them rebuilt. Either way, it was my fault… I was in New York selling horses at that time. They can't do a damn thing well if I am not here." He said right in front of them.
"Well, that is a waste of time, in my opinion. Too much time and new resources on doing that. Let the horses roughen the salves up, their punishment for their mistakes." The Governor said as he began to laugh almost uncontrollably.
"Heh, I was thinking about that. But I plan to expand from there; if I mess up one, the rest will be fucked up as well." John laughed lightly.
"Wise words." Quincy chuckled.
"Gentlemen… I am afraid I feel quite unwell; please go without me." The Governor said as he looked at the horses with dead focus. He was scared; the Governor and Felipe could see through that.
Felipe looked at Quincy, and he understood the assignment without even talking.
"Same, not having the best of days."
"Give the two horses to two of my people, they will want to know where I am, or they will all freak out," Felipe said as he remembered he got bodyguards living on another side but still in the same residence.
"Yes, go," John said to his slave; his orders were immediately followed.
Felipe quickly mounted one of the horses and quickly left without a care in the world.
"Not so pompous after all," John said out loud as he quickly got on his horse and tried to catch up to his guest.
"Well, it seems we are left to ourselves," Quincy said.
"Yes indeed, his Majesty seems disinterested in business after all, but you… you and I are on the same wavelength. Maybe that is why we understand each other." The Governor said as he looked at his gut.
"Haha, what I wouldn't pay to be young again." Quincy sighed with a smile.
"Indeed, now, let's get some real grown-up drinks." He smiled as he was thirsty for alcohol, even though it was 8 am.
"… Yes… yes." Quincy said with some hesitation as he came to the same conclusion that his boss arrived at: The Governor was just too much of a wild card. But there is an opportunity for that, ensuring he closes his eyes to scrutiny and lets the company get away with stuff. And instead of paying the state, they would pay directly to the Governor.
It is the 1800s when a person could kill someone with a bounty on their head. Evasion of taxes the way It is done a couple of hundreds of years later is not of the concern of people. So Felipe could take in the loopholes and profit the most. Moreover, he prefers paying more to the employees than taxes. That is the Job of Quincy… being close to people… powerful people, making proposals to maintain the integrity and profitability of the factories and future ventures, and of course, making money while managing them, and for that, he has developed quite a tolerance to alcohol.
--
1 Hour later.
Felipe was looking at the nice-looking lake, which was killed by insects flying over it, while at the same time being surrounded by thick forests also infested with insects, something that in the 21st century would not be common.
"Wooaaahahh." The Man named Jhon slowly decelerated with his black horse when he arrived before Felipe. The owner of the land on which such forest was in.
"Your majesty, you know yourself around a horse." The Man was quite impressed as Felipe took off when he got on a tame horse.
"Well, war… that is how I know", Felipe said as he began petting the hot neck of the exhausted horse. "Mr. Jhon, it is good you came; we have things to discuss, money things."
"Is that so? Is Your Majesty interested in doing business?"
"I am; it is what I am here for. Well, this was supposed to be a visit to my matches company manufacturing. Now it has developed into a sightseeing and a spending spree." Felipe chuckled.
"…" Jhon didn't know what to say.
"You know, years ago… I met with a being so real… ever since, I have been looking for something similar. I have been going out of my way to find something similar. I am not sure what I am looking for, either way… I hope someday I find it."
"…"
"How many horses do you breed?" Felipe asked. "Yearly?"
"90 or more depending on how good things are. Why? Are you looking to invest?.... Your Majesty? I am the most productive horse breeder of these lands or anywhere, the best bloodline." The Cowboy said as he quickly saw an opportunity to get cash from one of the deepest pockets.
"Huh… not really, I am quite impressed with your operation, well managed, well everything… The stables look brand new, lots of them. Old ones are being torn down and new ones created." Felipe said with a smile."
"Thank you… I take pride in my work. As a matter of fact, I am looking to offset the type of renovations and improvements I give my infrastructure." The Cowboy said as he hinted at an investment.
"I would like to get in business with you. But… as you might know, I don't have no money to spend. I have an opportunity." Felipe said as he thought about the ways of peaching him. He is about to try and conquer Africa when there are no roads; he will need a lot of horses, and even in modern times, he will need a lot of horses.
"… What kind of opportunity?"
"I only have opportunities… you might have a good life here… but I was hoping you could make an empire within my kingdom. I will need hundreds of horses in the years to come. Maybe even thousands." Felipe said as he moved his horse back and went to leave the forest in which he had gotten into.
"… Thousands of horses? Does your majesty plan to conquer the rest of South America?"
"Something like that." Felipe said as he smiled, "In the few years to come, I will be trying to do something which only superpower countries can do…. In the meantime, I need mules and horses for a plantation I will create here in Louisiana. It will be nice to have a dealer."
"You can count on me for that."
"What about the first?"
"… I would have to leave here? Inst that, right? I am afraid I will not be able to do so. This is my Daddy's Legacy; I can't let my Daddy's legacy go to waste." John explained.
"Who says you can't have a small summer house in the USA?"
"Small?"
"Yeah, this is what it is to what I am offering you. I might not have the luxury. But I am one of the largest land owners in the world… and not by ceremony, but by working it. And by ceremony, I am only second to the king of England, and I am only a teenager, who knows in a few years." Felipe smiled.
"…"
"The risks are high, but the return is higher, dukedoms, earldoms… whatever…."
"I could be a Duke?"
"You could be whatever you want. Of course, if things go according to plan. Life is a gamble, wouldn't you agree?" Felipe smiled as he saw the face of greed in the Horse Breeder.
Anyways sorry for the inconsistencies. I will do my best this time, I promise... Maybe. XD Thanks for reading.
