Capítulo 338: Chapter 325 ( Survivors )

Cloud and Shio quickly arrived at what appeared to be a huge abandoned supermarket, only to stare at each other.

"Are you sure this is it?" - Cloud asked as he looked at the girl.

"I'm absolutely sure" - replied Shio with a smile - "If my senses are correct, those humans have to be in the basement."

". . ." - Cloud nodded at the girl's words as the two entered the place, only to see how the inside was completely trashed and blood stains were scattered everywhere.

Shio looked around the surroundings as she shook her head because despite understanding the [Aragami]'s point of view, she found the loss of so many human lives a pity.

"Don't worry, it's not your fault," Cloud said as he noticed the clear humanity in the girl's eyes.

"I just wonder one thing.... Why does our instinct tell us that we have to consume humans and our own kind to evolve..." - Shio muttered as she looked up at the ceiling of the place, only to sigh regretfully.

Cloud answered her, though he was now curious about one thing - "Tell me Shio.... How did you come to take this form?"

"I'm not sure..." - Shio replied as she looked at the blond - "I don't remember many things from my time as [Aragami], I only know that one day I woke up in this form and with a clear desire to know many things..."

She wasn't lying, she didn't possess any recollection of her memories, only of her enormous curiosity for everything humans did.

"Then you don't remember what kind of [Aragami] you were either" - Cloud muttered as he started to think.

"Not in the slightest" - Shio replied as she shook her head - "Though I can say I do remember one small detail...."

"What?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"That one moment I was hungry, and the next I was satisfied" - Shio replied while tilting her head - "Though as I said before, I don't remember anything about that moment, though I can say for sure that it was delicious."

Cloud gave the little glutton a blank look at her before shaking his head. At least he had gotten some information... it was useless, but it was something....

"We'd better get going," Cloud said as Shio nodded with a smile.

"How long are we going to be locked in this place?!" - roared a woman in her fifties as everyone else seemed to look down at the ground in regret.

"No one knows we're here, and we have no method of contacting those bastards from [Fenrir]" - said a balding middle-aged man - "And what's worse, food is getting scarcer and scarcer..."

Those present just clutched their stomachs as they sighed pitifully. They had been cooped up in this place for a little over a week.

"And all because of those bastards..." - Said a young man in his 20's as he clenched his fist in fury - "If it wasn't for those sons of bitches [Fenrir] attracting the attention of that thing, none of this would have happened."

No one refuted the young man's words because they all felt the same way.

Their village was a peaceful place despite being close to [Ashland], no, in fact that was why they were safe all this time. The territory known as [Ashland], had the particularity of keeping all the [Aragami] away thanks to its strange properties, but everything changed when a group of [Fenrir] transported their fight to their home.

"[Tsukuyomi]..." - Said a girl with fear and loathing. That name was well known around these parts because it was one of the few [Aragami] that were seen in the area despite being close to [Ashland], though to the relief of the inhabitants, that [Aragami] didn't seem to be as violent towards the others.

"It's not [Tsukuyomi]'s fault..." - said one man wearily - "It was [Fenrir's] fault for making him enraged to the point where he summoned his 'servants'..."

Everyone present could still recall the images of their friends, acquaintances and family, being devoured by the horde of [Aragami] that [Tsukuyomi] had summoned to destroy [Fenrir's] forces.

"What makes matters worse, is that those sons of bitches not only brought that beast into our home, but also left us at its mercy when they managed to kill it..." - snarled a woman as she bit her lip to the point where blood began to flow.

The hatred of the few survivors was deep, not only for the [Aragami], but also for [Fenrir].

"Wait a second..." - Said one of the men who seemed to be in good condition unlike the other survivors who were obviously in low morale.

"What's going on, Gin-san?" - Said one of the men in the place to the only one who might survive out of the whole group if things kept getting worse because he was the only [God Eater] in the place.

"I hear movement above us" - said Gin as he squinted his eyes - "Battle Sound..."

"You say there's someone upstairs?!" - exclaimed a woman with messy hair and a dirty face - "Has someone come to our rescue?!"

"Or are those things fighting again..." - replied another woman pessimistically.

"I'm not sure..." - Gin replied as he frowned - "It doesn't look like two of those things though..."

"Humans?" - The bald man asked as hope began to blossom within him, only to quickly calm down and frown - "Do you think they're a [God Eater]?"

"It's quite likely so, because there's no way anyone else would survive for so long in this place being out there" - Gin replied as he activated his [God Arc] - "And if it's a [God Eater], then it's quite likely a [Fenrir] seeker..."

The mere mention of the name of the most powerful company in the world caused everyone present to clench their hands fiercely.

"I'm going to be honest with you, you can hate [Fenrir] as much as you want, but you have to understand one thing... they are our only way out of this place, as well as our only hope of seeing a new tomorrow" - Gin said with a clear annoyance because just like the others, he hated [Fenrir] for what they did to them - "So I'm going to try to make contact. If he's a seeker of [Fenrir], then we'll finally be safe, but if he's not, we'll still gain something good because we'll have a new member for the team, he might even have a way to communicate with the outside"

Those present looked at each other as they nodded, though inside they were worried that things would change for the worse. They were thankful that Gin was an exemplary person who didn't take advantage of his superior position in the group thanks to being a [God Eater], but that didn't mean that the man on the outside would have the same behaviour.

"What do we do?" - asked a woman, who by her figure was the sexiest of the group thanks to her huge breasts.

"I recommend you to cover yourselves with something until we find out the identity and attitude of our 'saviour'" - said Gin while looking worriedly at the big-breasted woman because she was his girlfriend and their relationship had been going on for more than 3 years.

"We can only pray that it's a golden person like Gin-san" - said another woman, although she didn't hold out much hope.

"We'd better take Gin-san's words into account and protect ourselves" - said the bald man while the others nodded.

"OK, I think I'd better go make contact..." - Gin said as he looked around, only to stop at his girlfriend, only to walk towards the entrance without looking back again.

"Good luck, Gin-kun..." - Muttered the large-breasted woman as she prayed for her boyfriend's well being.

Gin carefully walked down the aisles of the supermarket in the direction where the sounds of battle could be heard, only to notice how no [Aragami] was around - "I guess they went running when they felt all the noise being made by the people who entered the place..."

Gin thought carefully because this was a good opportunity to go to the supermarket's communications room and look for any devices that still worked, or even pray to find the satellite phone in the surveillance room that the guards used in emergency situations, only to shake his head and look in the direction where the battle continued - "No... I'd better go help them because it's my duty as a [God Eater] to help my comrades..."

Gin again advanced in the direction where the unknown men were, only to stop his steps in surprise when he heard a cute female voice.

"We are close.... I can even make sure that one of them is walking in our direction."

"A girl?" - Gin muttered as he frowned because not only did she sound young, but her words left him dumbfounded - "How did you know she was walking towards where they are!"

"That's good to hear, now we'll be able to know how many survivors there are and how to help them..."

Gin was excited when he heard this because it was help and from the man's tone it didn't sound like he was lying, or at least his instincts that had saved him more than once said so - "At last.... at last we'll be safe..."

Tears were running down the freelance [God Eater]'s cheeks, only to be surprised to see the man who had arrived because he was a celebrity in the [Aragami] assassin line - "Cloud Strife?"
