Capítulo 4: The Solo Round Begins

The world flickered around Kaito as the floor of his cage opened, and he fell into the darkness. A rushing wind tore at him before he landed in bright, harsh light. The impact was soft, like landing on invisible cushions. It took him a moment to gather his bearings.

He was standing in the middle of an abandoned city, its winding streets enclosed by tall walls. Graffiti covered the buildings, and shattered windows offered a glimpse into deserted rooms. The air was still, yet suffocating.

In Kaito's hand was a gun—smooth, futuristic, almost too light to be real. On his wrist was a small device he hadn't noticed before: a rank counter. The screen showed his name followed by the number "10," apparently indicating the remaining players.

Then came the announcement:

"Solo Survival. Eliminate other players. Top 8 survive."

Kaito's heart hammered. Eliminate? His voice was barely a whisper. His eyes darted around, but he saw no one.

A buzzing sound caught his attention above. A drone hovered overhead, its camera fixed on him. It followed him, like a silent observer.

"This isn't real," he murmured to himself. "It's just a game."

But it felt too real.

Kaito ducked into a side alley, gripping the gun tightly. His fingers trembled. He knew he had to keep moving.

It's like a match. Check the map. Find a safe spot.

The streets were a maze of alleyways and open squares. A quick check of his BIO showed a basic map of the arena. Kaito marked a location that appeared to be an elevated position—possibly a tower or a rooftop.

He had barely walked a hundred meters when he heard the first noise: an explosion in the distance. His heart skipped a beat. That was real. Someone just got hit.

His grip on the weapon tightened.

Kaito reached a half-collapsed fire escape and cautiously climbed up. The tower he was looking for was an old warehouse with a chimney at its peak. He slipped into cover and surveyed his surroundings.

Then he saw her.

A figure moved cautiously across the street, a shadow in the moonlight. The person was small, probably a teenager, holding a shotgun in her hands. She seemed nervous, her eyes darting around.

Kaito raised his weapon, his hands sweating. Don't shoot. Don't shoot.

But before he could decide, someone else emerged from the shadows. A man, muscular and aggressive, aimed his weapon. Kaito could feel the tension in the air.

Without warning, the man fired. A scream cut through the silence, and the teenager crumpled to the ground.

"NO!" Kaito wanted to look away but couldn't.

The man grabbed the teenager's shotgun and disappeared back into the shadows.

Kaito's BIO vibrated:

"9 Players Remaining."

Kaito closed his eyes, breathing heavily. This isn't a game. This is murder.
