"ARE YOU OKAY?"
I glanced at Xeros worriedly as he paced around his small living room. Devin was curled up inside his room sleeping, so I made sure to keep my voice low.
"Yeah, no..." He tugged at the roots of his hair in frustration. "I don't know."
I placed a gentle hand on his arm, stopping him. He looked down at my hand that was wrapped around his.
"Take a deep breath, please?" I murmured. "You're going to make a hole in the floor with all your pacing."
"I-I'm just so angry," He growled under his breath. "I-"
"I know," I whispered. "But getting angry isn't going to do anything for you right now. So, please, just take a deep breath and calm down. For me?"
He looked at me for a second before nodding his head. "Okay. Okay."
"Thank you," I smiled gratefully at him. "Now...do you want to talk about it?"
"You know what's pissing me off," Xeros grumbled. "I'm just fucking pissed at the way they treated you -"
