Capítulo 31: Chapter 30

A deafening crash tore through the ceiling. A massive form came crashing through and landed heavily in front of everyone.

The exit, once wide enough to accommodate them all, now stood completely blocked by an enormous figure looming before them.

Before their stunned eyes stood a gigantic insectoid creature resembling a centipede.

Its sheer size was frightening—nearly a thousand legs, each as sharp as a spear, dug deeply into the ground.

Its head was a pair of glowing, scarlet eyes that held an unrelenting gaze on the group, infusing them with a deep sense of dread.

Theo's face went deathly pale as he recognized the creature. His heart sank.

"Ruined," he muttered under his breath.

This monstrous Zerg had sealed off their escape route fully.

There was no bypass for it, and its very existence was suffocating in itself. It was a different kind of Zerg soldier they had met thus far—larger and more menacing, exuding an overwhelming aura of power.

With a scream-like roar, the millipede released a wave of sound resonating through the whole length of the passage.

The fear in everyone's heart grew stronger. Someone's legs buckled, and he fell to the ground, despairing.

"It is over! We have no way out!"

"How did those dark elves make this monstrosity?"

"Damn it! My daughter is waiting for me back home."

"I never could have imagined that it would end this way."

A desperate desperation erupted among them as the millipede drew closer.

With spear-like legs that bore deep gouges into the metallic floor, the sound of screeching shells scraping the walls lit it up in sparks.

Rodgraim's voice suddenly emerged from the helmet of the Iron Pilot.

"Nothing lost. Relief is here."

- From Aether Dominion.

All eyes turned to the Iron Pilot, who nodded confidently.

"Our captain has arranged for backup. They should arrive any moment now!"

The enormous millipede was suddenly jerked upward, as if lifted by an invisible force.

A burst of psychic energy filled the air-a force so vast and overwhelming that Theo could hardly credit it.

He had seen psionicists before, but never one with this level of power.

It was like standing before an ocean, its waves crashing violently and relentlessly.

"What an incredible psionic presence!" Theo muttered, eyes wide with amazement.

The millipede felt the peril. Its millions of legs thrashed wildly, pressing into the metal walls in an attempt to dig itself in.

Too bad.

With a tremendous roar, the entire passage's metal framework was ripped apart.

The millipede's cries of rage and fear filled the air.

In the desert beyond, Nebryx stood with her arms raised, her body radiating pure psionic energy.

"Unforgivable! The Zerg must be eradicated!" she declared.

Onboard the Aether Dominion , Rodgraim observed the spectacle and let out an awed sigh.

"Psionicists… terrifyingly powerful."

Under Nebryx's control, the monstrous millipede was utterly helpless. It twisted and writhed as if it were nothing more than a plaything in her hands.

A few seconds later, Theo stepped out of the passageway, just in time to see something he would never forget.

The millipede was torn asunder by the overpowering psionic energy, its huge body shredded into twisted pieces. Blood fell upon the desert sands below like a macabre rain. This was the power of Nebryx.

The other crew members stood still, their faces pale with shock. The scene was one out of a nightmare.

Nebryx turned to them, her voice cold and emotionless.

"Board the ship. The captain is waiting."

Her words jerked them out of their daze, and they scrambled to obey.

The Aether Dominion descended in a smooth glide, casting a shadow over the battlefield with its massive frame.

As Rodgraim stepped out, Theo couldn't help his astonishment.

"You are the captain?" Theo stammered, stunned

This young man-this human-was the one leading such an imposing crew?

It did not even have a chance to sink in when a sharp piercing sound cut through from behind it.

A group of Zerg soldiers flooded out from the pyramid. The horde was enough to drain anyone's blood.

Theo paled all over again.

"So many… How many more of those nasty creatures did the dark elves create?"

"Captain Rodgraim," he begged, "we must go at once! These Zerg soldiers are too many. Even with a powerful psionicist, this is—"

Rodgraim smiled and patted him reassuringly on the shoulder.

"Leave it to me."

He raised his hand, and from the sky, a thunderous roar echoed.

Hundreds of Viking fighters descended, shifting seamlessly into ground mode.

Their twin Gatling guns locked onto the approaching Zerg swarm.

"Fire!" Rodgraim bellowed.

A hail of bullets pounded down, ripping through the Zerg soldiers as they charged. The sheer volume of firepower made the battlefield erupt into a maelstrom of destruction.

Theo was speechless.

"So this is fire suppression," he whispered.

The Zerg soldiers were incinerated before they could get anywhere near, their remains scattered on the ground.

Rodgraim turned to the crew.

"Time to board the ship."

Still stunned, they rushed aboard the Aether Dominion.

Once all of them were inside, the ship rose up into the sky without a hitch.

Rodgraim was in the bridge as she watched the Viking fighters do their thing.

"All Vikings, return to the ship."

[Acknowledged!]

The fighters transformed back to their aerial forms and headed back to the Aether Dominion.

Rodgraim then activated the control panel.

"Commence orbital bombardment."

The blinding beams rained down from the sky in a series, obliterating any remaining hints of the Zerg swarm below.
