*Zariah*
“Hey,” my friend says. At first, Greg is stiff in my embrace, and then I remember why he left in the first place. He was mad at me. Mad because he has had a crush on me for forever, and I didn’t reciprocate those feelings. He must know if he’s been in Micah’s office that Micah is my mate. But then, he already knew that, didn’t he?
I kiss his cheek, and Greg finally starts to relax a little. “How are you?” I ask him.
“I’ve been better,” he admits. I let him go and take a step back, noticing the curtains in Micah’s office window flickering. A thousand thoughts rush to my mind. I’m glad he’s in there because I need to remind him about my grandma’s journal. Not to mention I need some serious training when it comes to understanding the day-to-day duties of being a Beta. I might know I’m a capable leader, but that doesn’t mean I have any clue what my dad was responsible for every day.
“Zariah? Are you even listening to me?”
