As Eli gaped at his surroundings, his mind refused to accept what he had just gone through. Somehow his whole class appeared in a large majestic room seemingly fleshed out from the fantasy stories. His whole class were situated inside a circle, some of them were blankly staring, seemingly processing the whole situation.
They were surrounded by a massive number of people cladded in steel, these people appeared like the knights of old, disciplined and organized as they lined up in formation.
A middle aged man walked in front of the whole class, he was wearing a white gilded priest's robe matched with a staff and book on both his hands. He had a stern face while he observed each student's expression.
In a while, he's deep soothing voice reverberated in everyone's ears. "Please stand for you are at the presence of his majesty, king of Anadirn."
Everyone calmed and followed his words. Eli alongside with his classmates was amazed when they stared at the man that was calmly sitting on a gilded throne.
What the hell is happening? Everyone thought.
"Woah, Isn't this what they call Isekai?! Holy shit!" A nerdy looking guy exclaimed and everyone got bewildered.
"Dude, you're right."
"I just want to go home."
The class was split into those who have great hopes for the unknown future while some wanted to just go back to earth. Some were already immersed in their delusions and they chattered seemingly forgetting about the pressure from earlier.
"Please refrain yourself from speaking, heroes. I shall explain to you clearly your current situation." With his majestic and charismatic voice, everyone's attention was piqued by the man sitting on the throne.
"Before all that I, Richard Von claude, must apologise for summoning all of you so abruptly. It is because the goddess has given us a prophecy that a group of brave heroes will be summoned if we perform the ritual and they will receive the goddess's blessing to help humanity defeat the demonkin.
The king paused for seconds, letting the crowd process the information they were given.
"I do not want to impose on you the duties of being a hero but we will do our utmost best to satisfy your wishes. Please do not hesitate to ask me now since this is a matter of your future."
There was a silence that preceded among the classmates before someone raised his hand, everyone made their way as the man who raised his hands walked at the front of the group.
It was none other than the nerdy looking guy, Riko who exclaimed his thoughts earlier. A man that stands out in class due to his overwhelming grades and resolution to lead in certain situations.
"I just want to ask if we have any cha-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Eli saw the king glancing at a knight in a large armor and the knight nodded before interjecting.
"Impudence! Where is your respect for his highness!" His roar intimidated Riko as well as the whole class.
Riko stepped backward, "I'm sorry for the disrespect, your highness."
Now his authority is established among everyone. Eli thought. He could probably say these words due to his experience from observing his father run their company at a young age and the way he was taught of books such as the art of war.
Seeing that there were no further questions from the intimidated group, the king said. "My daughter will now proceed to help unlock everyone's potential."
Most of the students that had no knowledge of fantasy novels did not know what's happening and they could only ask the guys who looked thrilled.
"What do you think will happen to us, Eli?" A gentle hand gripped Eli's hand and he could feel the nervousness in her voice.
"We may be trained to fight for them according to the king's words earlier. Don't be scared Ayase, I'll be here to protect you."
"Mhmm…" She smiled.
The princess who was standing besides the king walked forward. She was wearing a bright blue dress and had a tiara on her head. She looked quite the genteel person and her smile brings forth a wonderful feeling.
The men in class couldn't help but be enraptured by her beauty, her beauty was far more superior than their goddess, Ayase. To be fair, a princess who's well maintained and had a strict upbringing would look far more beautiful than a modern person but Ayase would not lose much if she had the same treatment.
"Please form a line, heroes." She watched and couldn't help but sigh at the sight of the group lining up in disarray. "Do take your time, Heroes. Please do not be nervous."
Like the man from earlier, her voice had a soothing effect on everyone too. The disorganized mob perfectly lined up like puppets that heeds her words. Unexpectedly, It had no effect on the group of four.
"Hey Eli, I'm still kind of confused but excited at the same time. We're in a fantasy world!" Yuuki was enthusiastic, in his heart, he was hoping to live life like the heroes everyone fantasized about and maybe be worthy of the love of his crush. What am I thinking? She's already with Eli-san.
"Don't get too excited Yuuki, you're probably fantasizing about girls in this world, hmp." Aki pinched his waist and Yuuki blushed from embarrassment.
"As expected of Yuuki's fantasies. Don't worry dude, there will be a lot of them here." Eli teasingly interjected.
"Hey Eli, don't influence Yuuki with your playboy tendencies. You already have Ayase so be content."
"Of course, no one can top my lovely Ayase." Eli grinned and placed his arms on Ayase's shoulders, seemingly, showing everyone how intimate the two are.
This scene did not escape the princess's gaze.
"The one in front, please step forward."
Riko moved in front of the princess and he had a serious look on his face.
"Please extend your hand, hero." The princess said while her right arm was extended with her palm pointing in front.
Their hands touched and a blinding light gushed forth from it.
Seconds later, the light ceased and everyone observed the dumbfounded look of the princess.
"Sir Hero has been blessed by the Goddess with the potential to be an archmage! Please say 'status' hero, and you will be able to see the Goddess's gift."
Everyone besides the class were bewildered, someone with a potential to be an archmage would be a great boost to their kingdom's strength. An archmage of legends is said to be able to call upon the wind and move mountains with his overwhelming amount of mana.
"Please stand behind me, Hero and the next one, move forward please." Her well mannered words made everyone have a good impression of her and they got excited from the concept of magic. It is a wonder and well sought after by teenagers.
Everyone had their turns and each were split into two combat potentials in different grades. Starting from mage to archmage and warrior to swordmaster. Everything seemed calm until it was Yuuki's turn.
A blinding light illuminated every corner of the room and they could only close their eyes until they heard the princess's yell.
"How could this be! The Goddess has blessed us with the presence of her champion!"
"What?"
"Oh fair hero, you are her chosen mortal and were blessed with her divine power to protect humanity."
"Is that so... Then I will do what the goddess's planned for me and protect everyone." Yuuki said in a heroic manner while he joined the others behind the princess shortly. but Eli thought of him as someone pretentious.
Continuing on, Aki was blessed with the potential to be an archmage. She hugged Yuuki in excitement when she walked behind the princess and then chatted with her friends. The only two remaining were Ayase and Eli, and everyone looked at them in anticipation.
"Please step forward." The princess's words echoed once again and Ayase nervously moved. Although used in being stared at by a crowd, the intimidating feeling she felt from everyone aside her classmates differed greatly.
Ayase did the usual process with the princess. Different from what they'd expect, there was no light that gushed forth nor any disturbance but it was eerily silent instead.
"Oh Goddess, what does th-"
"Poor child, your pure soul still illuminates amidst the darkness, burning restlessly. Truly like a phoenix among mortals indeed." A strange voice resounded around the hall, no one knew where it came from but it felt like the voice was transmitted directly through their minds.
The voice gave out an ethereal feeling, no man would deny that it sounded like a heavenly hymn.
"I am amazed by your perseverance and will choose you as the saintess of my church."
And with that, the feeling everyone felt vanished, leaving all of them bewildered. It's the first time they have ever felt a divinity's presence.
The king along with his trusted aides couldn't help but be astounded. With this they would have another religious figurehead besides the archbishop. Therefore, their grip over the commoners will be strengthened.
"The goddess has blessed us with her presence!" The king shouted, his actions unbecoming of one and yet the knights did not mind but cheered and prayed piously.
For their belief lies solely at the existence of the goddess herself and for them, being able to feel her presence is a gift no amount could surpass.
"May I have the honor to know your name, saintess?" The princess kneeled and her eyes held zeal within. Greedy as the nobles may be, it would still not compare to their zealousness towards the goddess they believe. For doubting divinity leads to your imminent destruction while through a god's blessing would you be able to hold legitimacy as a noble.
"I am Ayase Ono." Her nervousness prior the ritual was not to be seen , and instead was replaced with an unusual calm demeanor.
Her name as well as the heroes would be marked in the annals of history.
This marks the start of a new journey for a degenerate of an MC.
Transitioning to third person POV is quite the challenge but I'm going to try my best to provide the best experience for each reader.
As you see, I am not quite detailed at portraying the looks of each characters. In this part, I want the readers to be able to use their own imagination to manifest each character's appearance to their own liking.
Enjoy reading.
