After stepping over the threshold of the conference room, Adam stopped in surprise. Clearly, he had not expected to find all these people. However, he mastered himself quickly and apologized once again for being late. Then he took the seat Hess had indicated to him.
“We don't pay you to sit on your ass, Counselor Lechoń," Hess reprimanded him. “Not only did you not show up at the office this morning, but you were late for your meeting and kept your partners waiting. As far as I know, you are no longer on sick leave.”
“I'm so sorry.”
“Give the boy a break," Joanna Klimek asked. "You're stressing him out unnecessarily."
"If anyone can stress about anything here, it's probably just your politeness," Hess said. "There's nothing more frightening than a predator's smile."
"Thank you, Darek, for not calling me a hyena. But since we agreed the other week that young Counselor Lechoń is coming under my care, let me be the one to discipline him in a manner appropriate to me."
