Capítulo 10: Questions
The fox lady was perplexed as to why he wanted to speak with Ravena when he should have known she was weakened as a result of what they all did together. She could tell he wanted to see her, so she let him in because she didn't have any other option.
"I appreciate it."
"I'll let you two work it out. Please notify me when you have finished speaking. You see, I have to heal her." She waved them off and closed the door before heading down the stairs.
"So.."
"I apologize for what I've done to you. I've never felt this way before, so I'm not sure why I wanted more of you after being kissed by you. I love sex, but I'm not the type of woman who only thinks about it, so I felt a little disgusted with myself, even though it's strange to feel that way when it's basically the same thing. Anyway, I'd like to apologize once more for what I've done to you. I'm hoping you'll forgive me."
She tried to smile, but it failed miserably, as Lucas observed. He laughed as he observed her behaving in this manner. He was also relieved she wouldn't keep doing this, and he thought she was reasonable and acting like a mature woman. He expected her to be obstinate and demand more, but he was wrong.
"Why are you laughing?" With a puzzled expression on her face, she inquired.
"It's just that I'm relieved that this was something over which you had no control. I'm not sure if it's true that you weren't yourself at the time, but I'll let it go because you didn't try to get me to have sex with you. But the next time I won't, so I hope you remember that." He got to his feet and prepared to leave.
"That was the only thing. I just wanted to clear things up and check in for a moment to make sure everything was fine. I'll catch up with you later."
He opened the door and was about to leave when he was stopped by a sudden-
BAM, from Ravena's direction.
When he turned around, he saw Ravena on the ground, grunting as if she was trying to get up or something.
"What are you up to?" He asked as he walked over to her to pick her up from the ground.
"I-I wasn't finished! Don't go out like that. I, too, had some things to say." She clung to Lucas' shoulder as they made their way toward the bed she had been lying on earlier.
"Oh, my bad. I assumed you didn't have to say much because you had already apologized and asked me to forgive you. Sigh. Could you please stay in bed as well? I'll listen, so just stay where you are until you're ready to stand on your own." He then took a chair from the room and sat beside her bed.
"I'm listening."
"Are you a human being?"
"Yes, I am. What of it?"
'Wait. But am I really? Even if mana helps me strengthen my body, I don't think I could move after being hurt by master several times. He is a literal god, which makes no sense. Did I change or something? Even my own race? Well, now that I know there is more than one race, I can pretty much conclude that humans are the weakest of the bunch.'
"I'm not certain. I used to be human and did human things, but since coming here, I've begun to change. We need food and water to survive, but I haven't eaten or drank anything in who knows how long, which is impossible because I will starve if I don't eat anything. So I think I morphed into a different life form or something? Something to do with humans? But I'm not sure. Haha."
"Hmm..." Ravena pondered. She didn't know much about humans and didn't want to say anything unless she was certain. She only knew that humans were the weakest form of life in the universe. They will remain this way unless they receive assistance or improve their overall proficiency in mana.
Ravena then looked at Lucas, trying to find something that had changed him. Lucas isn't sure if he's still human, so something has definitely changed his life. A being or a tool that aided him in some way. She was certain of it. She just didn't know what it was.
"Do you know if any creature or even a tool assisted you in gaining and increasing your mana or anything else related to that?" She asked, her eyes wide with curiosity, expecting him to say no, despite the fact that the likelihood was extremely low. Unless..
"I did, in fact. It was some kind of slime. But I'm not sure where it went. He was always stuck to my body, but other than that, he was just there to help me gain access to mana."
"A slime? That is not possible, Lucas. Slimes are insignificant monsters with nothing to offer. Could you look for it? If you get this slime for me, I might be able to figure it out."
Lucas didn't respond right away and began to consider his options.
'I don't want to reveal anything about the slime who assisted me. Even if they are my master's subordinates, they can silence me with the flick of a finger, so I shouldn't let my guard down. I feel especially at ease around Ravena, but she could be acting. I'm not sure. I don't want to take the chance of dying again. Ugh. Let us see if she truly has no hostile intentions. I can do this by standing by her side and observing any changes in her behavior. I'm not an expert on this.
"I'll look for him. But why do you inquire?"
"Your body, on the other hand, is not normal. I have a skill that allows me to determine a person's race, but when I use it on you, it says 'Phantom,' which I have never seen before. Lucas, are you certain you were human?" She inquired with a perplexed expression.
"Phantom? That makes absolutely no sense. I may have received assistance from that slime, but I can't just change my race, can I? I mean, after hearing you say that you've never heard before, I'm still skeptical."
'I think I'll ask Master if he knows anything about this.'
"Well, don't worry, I'll try to gather some information about that race."
"Why would you do such a thing? And where are you going to get that?"
"Because I believe an apology is insufficient, I will assist you in this manner if you do not believe it is bothering you. Also, simply going outside. However, I must first seek permission from my Lord. How will I go about doing that?"
"Huh?"
"What?"
"Wait, what do you mean 'going outside?'"
"As I previously stated. I'm going to go outside and-"
"Is there another world besides this infinite void?" He gripped her shoulders, which caused her to frown, knowing how clueless Lucas was about everything.
"Where did you come from if you don't know basic stuff?"
"I actually passed away. After that, I thought I'd have to live here for the rest of my life, but it appears there's another world out there. Phew!" He leaned back in his chair, relieved to learn that he could leave this infinite void. He was becoming accustomed to the darkness all around him, but he didn't want to stay here forever because he might go insane. Training may help him, but what about after that? Will he simply follow in the footsteps of his master? He, who's been here for who knows how long?
No way, right?
He quickly brushed everything aside and returned to his conversation with Ravena. He'd have to ask his master about everything the next time he saw him because he said he was too busy today. It can't be helped. Lucas is willing to wait if he receives proper answers, which he doubts.
"Are you sure this is what you wanted to ask me?" He felt he had squandered his time if she was only going to ask one simple question. Lucas could have trained and possibly grown stronger in the meantime. He returned, his gaze fixed on her, and awaited the next question.
"No way. It was one of only a few questions I had. Now let's move on to the next one,"
"How long have you been circulating your mana through your meridians?" Her interest in him didn't stop her from asking questions that other people might find strange.
"I'm not sure how time passes here inside, but before coming here. I practiced for a while before flying to this rainbow in the distance."
"Hmm. So you're a natural genius who can easily manipulate mana from within and without. Impressive. However, you have not mastered it. I'm still no master at it, but you, a newborn, have mastered it? No way." She stated.
"That's unfortunate. I thought I had decent control over it, so I assumed I had mastered it, but it's no easy feat when you haven't mastered it completely."
"After all, I am a succubus. I can keep growing with the number of souls and life force I absorb, so I have plenty of time to become stronger, which means I can do it at my own pace rather than rushing and failing in the end. So don't get too excited about it. You've only recently begun to manipulate mana, allowing you to grow much faster."
"A succubus? Don't succubuses have sex with men in order to drain their vitality in their dreams or something?"
"It's not the same as what you just said. I eat the souls of creatures in order to grow stronger and drain their life force through sexual intercourse with a man. Don't make the mistake of comparing me to a vampire. They, too, drain their life forces, but in a different way."
"That's good to know." He said it with a simple nod as if jotting it down in his mind.
"Are there any more?"
"Yes. The last two."
"Go ahead," He said.
"Do you have any techniques?"
"No, I don't. Atyss said I could get one from him, but since I am the master's pupil, I should first ask his permission before obtaining anyone else's techniques. Why?"
"When you are a newborn, you must learn as many techniques as possible. It will come in handy later in life when you have to fight off enemies or the like. I recommend that you seek permission from our Lord later. Because you will be training with my Lord sooner or later, it is best to begin with the fundamentals of the technique as soon as possible. So, if you've been training with it for years, you'll be able to easily control the technique in battles, whether you're starting after getting your mana under control or something entirely different. Don't forget, okay?"
"Oh, is that so? I had no idea. I guess I'll have to work to save up for a few techniques. But how?"
"Simply ask my Lord. He will undoubtedly find a solution to everything you are thinking about right now. Now for the final question."
"Did you meet the others?"
"Yes, I did. I like them and hope to see them more often. Though I have my doubts after hearing you guys patrol the void. I guess it can't be helped."
"We can always pay a visit. Simply ask my Lord. He might only come back to get us for you? Who can say?"
"Sure. That's what I'll do."
"Is that everything?"
"Indeed, it was." She turned around and sighed as she lay down on her bed as if she was exhausted from doing nothing.
"But why did you ask these strange questions that you could have gotten later from me when you feel better?" He inquired, intrigued. He knew there was something there, or she wouldn't have asked him to stay for a few minutes to ask some questions.
"Because I'm intrigued by you, Lucas. Do you know how grateful I am to you for forgiving me? Everyone thinks I'm a whore who only enjoys sucking men dry and such, but I take pride in only sleeping with men who don't mind dying while having sex. That's why it's so difficult to find any these days, and I've been rather tense as a result of it all. That one experience has already weakened me rather than strengthened me. As you can see, it has some disadvantages. The longer I go without draining a man, the more weakened I become after a period of not draining men." She clasped her hands together and fixed her gaze on Lucas.
"Thank you for listening, and I'll see you when I'm feeling better."
He stood up, paused for a moment, turned around, and walked toward the door. He clutched the knob and peered over the weakened Ravena's shoulder.
'I must say, I admire her demeanor. She has the potential to be a good friend of mine in the future.'
He opened and closed the door before storming off to the fox lady, not forgetting to tell her about his leave so she could heal Ravena.
