"...So...it had nothing to do with Hell denying me entrance because I've helped so many people during my lifetime? Or Heaven having pity on me because I would definitely be bored up there?" I asked confused. I was definitely sure I was some kind of awesome person who was too ambiguous to be placed anywhere.
"...You are weird" Milo stated with a deadpan expression. I saw some kind of pity in his eyes as he said so.
"Anyways, I am looking forward to working with you in the future. We will definitely have lots of fun together." I said in enthusiasm stretching out my hand to Milo. He shook it in equal enthusiasm I believe. "Me too"
"So how will it be working?" I asked eager to begin very soon. I am a firm believer in knowledge. The more I know the better. Even if I won't be able to use said knowledge anytime soon, you will never know when it will come in handy.
"Before each transfer, you will get the chance to learn a skill to mastery in our training room. The amount of time you spend in there depends on how fast you are able to learn said skill. Each time you master a skill, you also strengthen your soul strength. Of course, how much your soul strength will increase depends on the skill you choose" As Milo was saying this, a table on the panel appeared with various "ordinary" skills such as cooking, hacking and business. However there were also "extra-ordinary" skills such as manipulation, telepathy and telekinesis on the same side. The more "special" a skill was the higher the number next to it was.
"Skills are divided in three different grades. The grades are namely first, second and third grade. The higher the grade the higher the increase of your soul strength. As a beginner, you will only gain access to two third grade skills for your first transfer and an instant skill from your beginner package." Milo described the various grades with a pyramid with third grade skills being at the bottom, followed by second and finally first grade skills.
First grade skills will give you the largest increase in soul strength. However they did seem too overwhelming to me. First grade skills were skills such as dimensional teleportation, time line jump and world creation. They looked great and obviously overpowered but I am not really interested in any of them. They seem so complicated and easy to screw up definitely not Mielle-proof.
Next were second grade skills such as telepathy, teleportation, various elemental magic and healing. The weeb in me was definitely jumping around in excitement. These were skills that could possibly make me the next avatar or a witch. They weren't something people could do in my old world. We could only dream or read about them in novels or comics. They seem like skills I would definitely like to have - you know, for wish fulfillment.
Last but not least were third grade skills. Even though they seemed like mostly ordinary skills, one should consider that there are people who dedicate their whole life to this craft and would still never reach mastery. Skills such as cooking, hacking, medicine and make up. They weren't as exciting as second grade skills and definitely as over powered as first grade skills. However one would be able to dominate in the modern world with such skills. There are also some quite surprising inclusions.
I suddenly hear Milo talk about a beginner package. A beginner package? I get a freaking beginner package?! Excitedly I ask Milo "What things are there in the beginner package?"
"The beginner package includes one instant mastery of a random second grade skill and allows you to learn two third grade skills instead of just one. Under normal circumstances, you will only be able to access second grade skills by your tenth transfer and a first grade skill every 200 transfers. You can trade the opportunity for learning a first grade skill with three second grade skills or six third grade skills." Milo explained this calmly.
"But if ROBs live forever aren't there ROBs who have already mastered all skills? And wouldn't first grade skills be ordinary?" I start getting confused. If a first grade skill comes around every 200 transfers, wouldn't these ridiculously overpowering skills be ordinary?
"To be honest, first grade skills aren't popular. They come with many rules and regulations that their power is severely diminished. ROBs would rather trade the opportunity of getting a first grade skill with various second or third grade skills. The only ROBs getting these skills are bored and are hoping to somehow outplay the rules for their own amusement. The amount of skills shown to you are limited by your own knowledge. The more you experience, the longer the list of skills will grown." Milo explains once more and sits on the white ground while I am still standing.
Interesting.
"Please tell me about soul strength"
"Soul strength in your current situation can have multiple benefits. For instance, you will have an easier time transferring your soul into a human body. It will be pain free and you will gain access to most if not all of the person's memories. Another major benefit of a higher soul strength is the increase of your luck. Luck can influence you in various ways, you will be able to meet capable people more easily and learn things faster for an example. Later on, the higher you soul strength the higher your standing amongst ROBs will be." Milo says this and however interesting the topic might sound I can basically feel the boredom he is emitting. It seems like this is less important than I thought it would be.
"So where will we be going first?" Milo's eyes start sparkling as I move from the previous topic.
"We will be heading to the world of Tales of Demons and Gods first." Milo says in excitement.
I start feeling excited as well just wait for me Darling. The world of TDG is the world of one of my favorite side male characters.
"So shall I open the beginner package?" I ask carefully trying to play off my excitement.
"Hurry up already. The faster you master your skills the faster we can get there" Milo nods eagerly as I pick up the gift box that appeared in front of me out of nowhere.
[Opening beginner package] says a robotic voice
I look at Milo with confusion "Aren't you supposed to be my system? What is it with this voice?"
Milo answers "I am the spirit of the system. What you heard was the voice of the actual system. Now hurry up"
