Capítulo 29: The Idiot Envoy

The envoy banged the steel gate with his fist, "What is that look? High priest Gabriella. From when do we wear such things?" He laughed glaring at her armor.

The knights behind him rushed to restrain him immediately, they were ordered to protect him and that involved stopping him from doing stupid things like picking fights like this.

"Our orders were to get all the refugees into the capital, not start a fight!" The knight shouted.

"What do you know? Shut up and…" Just the envoy started shouting, Cael walked past them with Eva, opened the gate, and looked back at them. He then looked at William, "Guests?"

William shook his head, "No, they haven't been approved entry yet." He replied.

Gabriella approached William with her sword at hand, "Almanos something…don't remember his full name. At the church high training, he was a bit lower than me, known for having a twisted sense of what is right. A dense extremist that somehow was blessed with a purification ability."

"So you know how him?" Alen stared at her, seeing her sword unsheathed, he could tell that the only language Almanos understood was beating.

As the door was open for Cael and Eva to enter, Almanos pushed the knights to the side and rushed in. Cael didn't cut him as he was still debating whether attacking was a good idea.

The moment he reached the gate, extending his arm inside to keep it open. Splat! Everyone stared in shock as blood spilled. GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

To the gate side, Hades sat there patting Fen who was munching on Almanos severed arm. "Eat well, eat well…" He stood and faced the crying Almanos.

"You can kill anyone who gets in without permission, they said. Though it was a good deal it wasn't, they tricked me." Hades walked toward Almanos lifting his fist up. "You got in…Favor." [Attraction] Hades pulled Almanos toward him in one go, swinging a punch with his steel gauntlet.

CLANG! From behind the steel gate, the head knight leaped in and blocked Hades's punch with his sheath. "Guard! We seek no trouble, please lay your hands down." He shouted, praying that the previous General William and his son, the current general Alen won't join the fight.

"You got in…" Hades smiled, [Repulsion] BAM! A shockwave blasted from Hades's hand and sent the knight flying into the flower field. KYA! A maid cried inside the mansion as she saw the flowers she worked painstakingly to raise get crushed.

The other knights tried to rush in but the knight threw his sword at them. "Don't enter, we seek no troubles. The church sent us, not the army. We do not trample people's rights!" He yelled.

Hades couldn't care, you got in, and you die. He stared at Fen, he was still enjoying the screaming man's arm. He would probably come if he called him, but he hated nothing more than being interrupted at a meal so…he didn't call him.

William approached Hades and grabbed his shoulder, "Stop, let's hear them inside. They must know how to act."

SLAP! Hades slapped his hand away, "Our deal is that I can kill anyone who enters the garden without permission…give me compensation as we agreed."

William stared at him, "You're like a devil Hades, never expected you to take contracts so seriously. I will give you ten for each one of them."

"Don't trust you…you broke a promise, a contract."

As William has come to understand in the past two weeks, Hades has a weird tendency to not break his words. It was so strange, especially since how violent he was, why would he care about keeping a promise?

William sighed, "Cael, take him to the forest and kill as many monsters as you can."

Cael gasped staring at William with a confused face, he has just returned. "I don't want to, someone needs to stay here for safety." He glared at the knight.

Gabriella approached Hades and grabbed Fen up "I will go with Hades, you can take care of things here."

Alen got surprised by her proposal, "Wait, we need someone to heal this one here!" He pointed at the injured envoy.

Gabriella glared at him, "Don't care, he can heal himself. I have no intention of healing some that got injured fighting Hades or Fen." She was making sure she never make a mistake. If a Valkyrie thought it was better for Almanos to be like that, that was for the best. And she also hated him from the training days and won't heal him anyway.

Gabriella walked toward the gate ignoring Almanos's screams, Hades followed her as he wanted to earn some Favor. He will make up for all the lost days, he spent as a guard.

None of the knights dared stop them, they knew how dangerous Hades and Fen were. It was better to peacefully negotiate with William instead of fighting. Their leader was right, if not for this idiot Almanos, they would have done better.

Almanos was sent by the church as an envoy, which was a standard procedure followed each time they wanted to do something. Several knights were led by a priest, a holy squad, also known as crusaders.

This had a big problem though. The church was always low on qualified leaders or reasonable priests. Those people always rose up, never having time to go with the crusaders. That meant that the crusader always got the bottom line, ridiculous idiots as priests.

The knight leader knew that this was a strategy by the church to get rid of such people, they sent Almanos here to hopefully cause a problem and die. They can't kill their own after all. But that caused more problems for the knights. He and his squad are going to be blamed for the priest's death, demoted, or even punished for not doing their duty.

The knight leader stood watching Hades leave with Gabriella, "Damn it, why can't we get someone like her?" He growled and glared at the unconscious Almanos as Eva tried to heal him.

Hades walked through the street with Gabriella by his side, he quickly noticed people staring at them. "Don't attack anyone," Gabriella said with a smile standing beside him.

"I know, you've been eating my head about it. I will only kill those who attack us, and those you say I could." Hades replied with a disappointed look. "But why do they look at us like that?"

People glared at them and hid in the corner or behind stalls. Conversation stopped and women started whispering in their houses.

"Told you before, that me. They can't seem to get used to seeing me walk wearing this armor." She replied looking down at her chest, a steel plate was there.

She was the high priest and the lord's daughter, they are used to only seeing glimpses of her face as she rode in the closed carriage. Only hearing her whispers from behind the church consultation wall. The only times they saw her face, saw her standing like this was when she walked with her father or brother. Even in those times, she had her face covered with a gold-engraved veil making people who knew her face almost none existent.
